AoC Server Merges: Is the Sky Falling Yet?

Posted Thu, Jan 22, 2009 by Savanja

For the most part, the Age of Conan server merges were met with enthusiasm and relief as those of us in game watch the populations thrive once again.

So what's up with the doom and gloom? The critics have leaped all over the server merges like a lawyer on a car crash victim but we need to hold off on the last rites just a little bit longer. AoC isn't dead yet and Savanja is gonna tell you why.

A staggering 48 servers, spanning across regions, were all open for business and yet it seemed like no one was around and this panicked a lot of players and made the game feel a lot more isolated than it actually was. Who wants to play a massively multi-player game that no one else is playing?
