Square Enix Taken to Court

Posted Wed, Jan 28, 2009 by RadarX

In a very odd story out of Japan, an individual who had never played Final Fantasy XI was receiving frequent re-registration emails from Square Enix. The most logical explanation is, someone was using his email address to register for accounts. After contacting the company, he was told they could not stop the emails, which seems like a crappy system, but the story continues. Instead of sighing and blocking the email address, this guy took them to court and after two years and an appeal, won his case. Sure it was only the equivalent of $500 most of which likely went to legal fees, but hopefully Square Enix learned a lesson.

You can read the entire odd story over at Kotaku.
