A Guide to Stormreach Port

Introduction

Departing from Smugglers Rest brings you to the docks and port area of
Stormreach.  You are greeted with arcane powered cranes loading
goods into warehouses above you.  A single tavern sits in the port
serving newly arrived adventurers, sailors and others with a variety of
drinks and foods, as well as adventure.

Lord Goodblade wants you to work for him on three quests. 
He provides a means for you to gain access beyond the port gates into
the harbour proper.



•    Three-Fingered Thad

Oh dear, Thad has had yet another accident involving a dagger and his
hand!  However he still offers you the opportunity to buy and sell
weapons.



•    C'Aidan Kelle (Mushroom Collector)

Trades various mushrooms for items.  They are:

3 Sweet Whitecaps—Potions including cure light wounds and oil of light
repair

2 Deadly feverblanch—Fever blanch potion which removes a number of
negative effects

1 Pale Creeper—Masterwork armors



•    Elspeth Wright (General goods seller)

Sells a number of general goods including thieves' tools, bolts and
arrows.



•    Guard Heorogar

Guard Heorogar bars your way into the harbour proper. However there are
two possibilities for gaining harbour access. Intimidate the guard to
gain access to The Low Road or use the password Goodblade gives you for
completing his quests.



•    Sigmund Bauerson (Wavecrest Tavern keeper)

Sigmund sells various bar foods and drinks.  He also needs help
with some manual labour.  He needs you to retrieve a cask of ale
from his cellar.



•    Brother Augustus (Priest of the Silver Flame)

Brother Augustus is able to bring you back from the dead.  He also
has concerns over the strange artefact you find in Sigmund's cellar and
offers you a quest.



•    Aida (Wavecrest
tavern wench)


Aida lost her necklace and asks that you keep an eye out for it on your
explorations.

Quests

Taking Stock

•    Location: Wavecrest Tavern

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Sigmund Bauersom

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Short



Summary:

Sigmund is willing to pay you in food and drink if you do him a small
favour.  He has hurt his back and cannot lift the casks of ale
from his cellar.  Go and retrieve one for him.

When you retrieve the cask, a secret door opens revealing a short
tunnel. Inside a kobold sleeps curled around a chest.



•    Base Experience: 66

•    Monsters: 1 kobold  (CR 0.25)

•    Useables: Rest shrines 0, resurrection shrines 0

•    Chests: 2

•    Collectable items: 1

•    Reward:  Food

•    Notes: Only 1 chest contains items. The other
contains an artefact.  





Thwarting the Threat

•    Location: Wavecrest Tavern

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Brother Augustus

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Short



Summary:

After examining the strange artefact you find in Taking Stock, Brother
Augustus urges you to explore the tunnels further.  You find more
kobolds upon entering, one of which has Aida's necklace.  After
dispatching the kobolds you find a strange altar which shows signs of
use.  Examining it triggers a strange magic and reveals the madman
behind a scheme of sacrifice, Jacoby Drexelhand.



•    Base Experience: 200

•    Monsters: 10 kobolds  (CR 0.25 each) and
Jacoby Drexelhand (CR 1.00)

•    Reward: 6gp (including turning in Aida's necklace)

•    Useables: Rest shrines 1, resurrection shrines 0

•    Chests: 3

•    Collectable items: 2

•    Notes: One chest contains Aida's necklace, the
others contain items. The reward for completion is 3gp from Sigmund and
3gp from Aida.





Steal the Healing Elixir

•    Location: Port area sewer

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Lord Gerald Goodblade

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Medium



Summary:

Lord Goodblade bids you enter the sewers nearby to retrieve a healing
elixir. He warns you of a number of traps.  He fails to mention
the spiders and iron defenders set to protect the elixir in addition to
the traps.  The final hurdle, a small riddle, prevents you from
gaining the elixir unless you answer the warforged question correctly.



•    Base Experience: 333

•    Monsters: small brown spiders (CR 0.25 each) rusty
iron defenders (CR 0.25 each)

•    Reward: Cure Light wounds potion and quest reward
item selection

•    Useables: Rest shrines 1, resurrection shrines 1
•    Chests: 0

•    Collectable items: 5

•    Breakables: 24

•    Notes: N/A

 





Search for the Rare Scrolls

•    Location: Port area warehouse

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Lord Gerald Goodblade

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Medium



Summary:

Lord Goodblade asks you to seek out some rare scrolls held in a nearby
warehouse.  He warns you of possible competition for the scrolls
as well as slimes which may be found lurking in the warehouse.



•    Base Experience: 373

•    Monsters: thieves (CR 1.00 each) and Progenitor
slime (CR 1.00)

•    Reward: 5gp

•    Useables: Rest shrines 0, resurrection shrines 0

•    Chests: 1

•    Collectable items: 3

•    Breakables: 60

•    Puzzles: 1

•    Notes: The puzzle involves moving plates on the
floor until four energy flows to all four corners of the flooring on
which the podium containing the scrolls rest. You must solve the puzzle
to deactivate the forcefield around the podium.





Quest for the Ancient Daggers

•    Location: Port area warehouse

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Lord Gerald Goodblade

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Medium



Summary:

Lord Goodblade wants you to enter a nearby tomb and retrieve some
ancient daggers.  Inside the tomb you are confronted by the undead
remains of guards and a guard captain determined to prevent you from
taking the daggers out of the tomb.



•    Base Experience: 400

•    Monsters: small brown spiders (CR 0.25 each),
skeletons (0.25 each), undead guards (CR 0.25 each), Guard Captain (CR
1.00)

•    Reward: Quest reward item selection

•    Useables: Rest shrines 1, resurrection shrines 1

•    Chests: 1

•    Collectable items: 2

•    Breakables: 51

•    Notes: The chest contains the ancient daggers.





Survive the Low Road

•    Location: Port area sewer

•    NPC Quest Giver:  Guard Heorogar

•    Quest Level: Normal 1

•    Duration: Medium



Summary:

Guard Heorogar gives you a way to enter the harbour proper by passing
through a nearby sewer called the Low Road.  No one has survived
it yet and he is confident enough to have set a bet with a fellow guard
on the other side of the gate, Guard Healfdene



•    Base Experience: 400

•    Monsters: kobolds (CR 0.25 each), kobold warriors
(0.25 each), kobold shamans (CR 1.00 each), slime (CR 2.00)

•    Reward: 5gp from Guard Healfdene

•    Useables: Rest shrines 0, resurrection shrines 0
