Guide to Paladin Feats

Feats 31-40

By Nuitaran

A rating of 1 or 2 means the Feat is pretty much useless to a paladin and one that you probably want to avoid.  A rating of 3 indicates that the Feat can be used with some careful planning, or with certain class combinations. We reserve a rating of 4 only for those Feats that are almost necessary picks for certain types of builds, or class combinations. A rating of 5 designates the best of the paladin Feats and ones players should seriously consider for any DDO Build for paladins.

31. Lightning Reflexes
Official Text: "Grants you a +2 bonus on your Reflex saves."

Comments: Paladins have no need to be increasing already formidable Saving Throws.

Rating: 1
32. Luck of the Heroes
Official Text: "Grants you a +1 bonus on all saves."

Comments: Paladins have no need to be increasing already formidable Saving Throws.

Rating: 1
33. Manyshot
Official Text: “By activating this ability, you can shoot two arrows simultaneously for a time.”

Prerequisite: Dexterity 17, Base Attack Bonus +6, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Received by Ranger Level 6

Comments: I just don’t see an archery-based paladin as an extremely viable option.

Rating: 1

34. Mental Toughness
Official Text: “Increases your maximum spell points by 10 at first level, and 5 spell points for each additional level.”

Prerequisite: Able to cast spells

Comments: Paladins have more essential areas to focus on than their meager spell casting.

Rating: 2
35. Mobile Spellcastingillithid
Official Text: “You are able to move about slowly when casting a spell.”

Prerequisite: Dexterity 13, Combat Casting, Able to cast 2nd-level spells

Comments: Don’t even bother. With the few spells you’ll be throwing, you can afford to stop moving to cast.

Rating: 1
36. Mobility
Official Text: "Adds a +4 bonus to Armor Class while tumbling."

Prerequisite: Dodge

Comments: This leads to Spring Attack, a Feat that I personally use in almost all my builds. If you love Spring Attack as much as I do or like to Tumble out of the way of monster attacks, this is a Feat for you.

Rating: 4
37. Negotiator
Official Text: "You have a knack for gauging and swaying attitudes. You receive a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks and Haggle checks."

Comments: This is another one that’s not worth the Feat slot for a paladin, especially since you should have a reasonably high Charisma.

Rating: 1
38. Nimble Fingers
Official Text: “You are adept at manipulating small, delicate objects. You receive a +2 bonus on Disable Device checks and Open Locks checks.

Comments: Leave it to the rogues.

Rating: 1
39. Point Blank Shot
Official Text: "You gain +1 bonus on ranged attacks and damage within 30 feet."

Comments: If you are going to attempt an Archery Paladin you’ll pretty much need this Feat. I think Paladins can be better in other areas.

Rating: 3
40. Power Attack
Official Text: "While using Power Attack mode, you trade your attack bonus for extra damage."

Prerequisite: Strength 13

Comments: You can’t hurt something if you can’t hit it, and the damage increase you get for this Feat isn’t nearly worth the Attack Bonus tradeoff. This is only worth taking to get to Improved Sunder—and even that isn’t so great.
