General Strategies

This quest is a great one for a duo team. In particular, a href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=51">dwarf
melee character will have good Balance against the Grease gushing forth
from the iron defenders. Just make sure that melee has a decent to-hit
score, whether it comes from high Strength or a solid Dexterity score
plus the Weapon Finesse Feat.

The human smugglers are weak enough, but the three surrounding
Shriketalon can pose a threat to a party with low numbers. A caster
with href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=71">Hypnotize
will keep them in check so that the damage can thin the numbers.
Alternately, a href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=144">rogue
who adeptly uses Sneak could land Sneak attacks on each of them while a
tank keeps everyone's attention.

This quest poses little challenge for a full party on Normal and Hard
difficulties. It is one of the few quests where not having a healer of
any kind in the party won't be a huge deficit. In fact, the a party of
all melee characters can make short work of this dungeon.

Section
1:
You enter a square room with a door to the north. You must
kill the iron dfender in the room to open the door. It is far enough
from the entrance that it will not attack the first adventurers to
enter the dungeon so long as they don't move.

Move through the door that opened and follow the hall as it curves to
the east.

Section 2: An iron
defender and a human smuggler stand in this square room room full of
crates. Kill them both and then smash crates until you find the lever
that raises the door on th e eastern wall.

Pass through the eastern door and follow the hallway until you reach a
three-way. Take the path to the left to loot from an adventurer's pack.
Ignore the path north of the pack; it leads to a dead end. Instead,
return to the three-way and head east.

Section 3: 2 lesser gray
oozes await you in this hallway, right around the entrance to a path
that leads south. Be ready with your wooden weapons.

With the oozes dead, continue east to pick a mushroom. Ignore the path
that continues east beyond the mushroom; it circles back and then dead
ends. Instead, return to the spot where you fought the oozes and take
the tunnel sotuh.

Section 4: The southern
path is long, and you will be ambushed by two iron defenders. Once they
are dead, you can open a door on the western wall just south of the
ambush point to access a Rest Shrine We suggest you use the valve to
raise the portcullis blocking your way east first. There are two more
iron defenders that will ambush you down the eastern hall kill then and
then use the Rest Shrine.

Section 5: Just beyond
the second ambush point, the path splits three ways. The eastern path
is a dead end, so turn south. Follow that path until it comes to
another intersection. Climb the nearby ladders and turn two valves to
raise the portcullis that will open the western path. The western path
has both the switch that opens the way to Shriketalon and a pile of
rubble.

When you're ready for Shriketalon, return to the area with the ladders
and head south.

Shriketalon: Skriketalon
is little more than a named iron defender. The only challenge in facing
this monstrosity is that it aided by 3 human smugglers. A little crowd
control magic can change the odds in your favor and allow you to take
out the mechanical menace and then pick off the smugglers one by one.
