Quest Guide: Feast or Famine

By Blackwater

Feast or Famine is in the Orc Lair in the NE of the Ruins of Gianthold. Speak to Cydonie of Argonessen in the Market place to travel to the Gianthold Tor.  Enter the Ruins of Gianthold through the gate which is inside the Gianthold Tor.  The fastest way to the Orc Lair is by dropping off the left side of the bridge near the entrance of the Ruins of Gianthold and running NE.

The lair is full of orcs, most of whom will do quite a bit of damage.  Fear and fire resistance are important to take, as well as a way to recover from negative levels.  Critical hits do a lot of damage from warrior types who are fought.

Note:  As of 5/20 The outside area is currently bugged as there is a chest but the boss that drops the key does not automatically spawn. You will have to call a GM to spawn the boss but be aware that he will also spawn a ton of mobs at the same time.

Map of Orc LairOK, let's kill Orcs.  This quest has some nicely placed traps at switches and entrances as well as a locked door which guards both Boghi and a chest, so a rogue is handy. Buffs at the start should include fire resistance. There is only one shrine inside but you can recall and use the shrine outside the quest if you are in desperate need.

Making your way from the start, you should encounter Noguk, the Wyrm Cult General. There are some floor spike traps scattered around his area so be careful when charging in. All the way through, it is best to kill the Bone-knitters (healers) and the Heresiarchs (casters) as fast as possible as they can cause you the most harm, including negative levels. Clerics can use Destruction to take them out effectively and casters can use Finger of Death. Mass Suggestion can also net you a nice little army of Orcish minions.

The first locked door will require a key which can be obtained by killing Ruzek, Wyrm Cult General in the nearby annex of four rooms. Solid fog placed at each door before opening it is handy. There is also a random spawn of a chest which contains nothing but is creatively trapped.

Trapped DoorHaving secured the key, make your way down to the next door. Hobgoblin spies are hidden nearby and sometimes will come through when you open the door in front of you, leaving you with enemies in front and behind.

Fighting further on you will come to a hole down to the shrine. Should you get into trouble from here on, it makes a good spot for a tactical retreat. Further down the cave you will come to a locked door. This hides both Boghi and a chest.

After killing Boghi, move on to the next locked door and the annex of four rooms alongside. These rooms are home to Zykir, Wyrm Cult General, who has the key you seek and a chest.

Smoked DoorThe final room is the toughest. It contains Rhutha Grimskin, who death ends the quest. He is healed by Bone-knitters and is in a room full of Orc archers and casters. A lot of Solid Fog, strong Firewalls, Cloud Kills and big swords seem to work well although taking out the healers first is recommended.

The end room of the quest will give you access to the Orc Quarter outside in the Ruins of Gianthold area once you have defeated the Orc raiding party.
