Freeing Achka and Justice For Grust

Grey Moon Waning is a series of
quests found on Sorrowdusk Isle, reached by passage on the Eye of Kol
Korran from House Deneith.  To acquire the quest series, go to
Brother
Mirashai at the far north east portion of House Denieth, located on the
top of a outdoor staircase, and ask him to bring you to the Eye of Kol
Korran.  Brother Marashai is also the raise point on the eye, and
can
bring you back to House Denieth.  Inside the Eye of Kol Korran,
speak
to the captain, Kurvic the Hound, who will transport you to Sorrowdusk
Isle, and direct you to speak with the Ogre Elder, Bruku.  Bruku
is not
hostile, and will begin you on the quest chain.  He is located due
north from the Eye of Kol Korran once you arrive at Sorrowdusk Isle,
standing on a rock outcropping.



The Grey Moon ogre tribe has suffered dissension.  Members of the
tribe
have agreed to work with an evil cult found on Sorrowdusk Isle, the
Cult of the Six.  The ogres are working with trolls, and doing the
bidding of the cult.  Bruku wishes to prevent the Grey Moon tribe
from
working with the evil cult, but needs to kill the ogre who has taken
over the Grey Moon's, and several other tasks.  The first quest,
called
The Iron Mines: Freeing Achka involves you saving the son of the true
chief of the Grey Moon tribe, Hragg.  His son, Achka, is captive
of the
traitorous leader of the rebellious members of the Grey Moon tribe,
Grust.  Achka is located in the Iron Mines.  The Iron Mines
are north
Bruku, and can be reached by heading north from Bruku (and fighting
some ogres on the way) keeping to the right.  Eventually you
will
reach the mines.

Moon Waning Part 1: Freeing Achka

When you enter
the mine, you will pass down a short hallway and fight 3 black sun
ogres.  Nothing particularly noteworthy about them, they are tough
and
use rend to do a lot of damage.  Left of the room they are in
leads to
a pit with a ladder and doorway.  The doorway leads to a room with
a
ogre leader, also cr7 and an orange named boss.



The boss drops a key, you need this key to open Achka's cell. 
Kill the
ogre and take it, then return back to the hallway where you fought the
3 ogres, and continue.



Around a corner,  you will see a long bridge, with 4 ogres on
it.  The
ogres will attack.  Do not run onto the bridge, it contains a
force
trap.  The diamond shapes forming the bridge railing denote where
the
trap springs.  Simply cross by passing from the portions of the
bridge
without that type of railing, until you are across, timing your passage
between the force trap bursts.  The trap can be disarmed from the
far
side.  Be careful of this trap, it does a sizable bit of damage.

down the hall past the trap, and you will round a
corner. 
Ahead is Achka, in a cell.  Two mounds of stone rest in front of
the
cell.  To the left is another cell.. inside is either a named hell
hound boss, or three normal hell hounds.  Slay the hell hound's or
the
boss Flamefang or not, as you wish, remember that the boss uses both
acid and href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=75">fire
breath.  When you open the cell to free Achka, the
two
mounds of stone will animate, they are earth elementals.  They are
tough for those with low armor classes (since they have earthgrab), but
are killed easily enough with weapon damage (they have a slight
adamantine dr) or just magical damage (fire, etc).  Once you have
defeated the elementals, simply talk to Achka, and your done. 
Return
to Bruku for the second part of the quest chain.

Grey Moon
Waning Part 2: Justice for Grust

Having saves
Achka, you now (after speaking with Bruku) return to the Iron Mines to
kill Chieftain Grust, the usurper ogre chieftain who is working with
the Cult of the Six.  Though, at this point, you do not know the
cult is manipulating the scenes here.

size="-1">The caves here in the
Iron Mines are the same as last time.  However, the key is no
longer there, and the room where the key is found contains 3
ogres.  Continuing down to where you last saw Achka, you see 4
more ogres, and the force trap bridge is still present and
trapped.  At Achka's cave, are 2 more of the same elemental. 
The right hallway is open, and you run into 2 ogre shamans (who use href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=463">
bestow curse and sound burst)
.



Past this hallway is another
room,  a 3 way intersection, the left leading to a pit (which
contains 5 cr 3 rust monsters, and sometimes a named rust monster
(Corrosion, cr5) who appears only when you open the chest here), on the
right is another door with additional ogres (3 shamans).

The hallway in the center of
the intersection leads to 2 more large elementals, and then a long hall
leading right, then up a ladder, then along a long ledge, then up a
second ladder.  The second ladder has a second ledge with an ogre
shaman on it, a door leading from here further into the area.  A
key is needed to enter the door, the shaman has this key.

The area past the door is made
up of a central ramp leading forward to a wide chamber where Grust the
Usurper is.  Two ledges leading right and left of the ramp lead to
two rooms each.  The first contains ogres, and sometimes the right
one contains Chieftain Grank.  The second contains trolls (cr7),
who will exit and attack as you approach Grust.  The right (facing
Grust) troll cave will sometimes contain Champion Preinyl (cr8 troll)
AFTER Grust is killed.




After killing Grust, loot and
exit to speak with Bruku again.  This time he will send you to the
old ancestral caves of the Grey Moon, located in the eastern part of
the island, part 3 of the quest chain.
