Starting with Nick Yee's research in 2002 and manifesting itself in countless surveys and research inquiries from academics intrigued and maybe a little frightened by how gamers play and interact online, MMORPGs are fertile ground for sociologists both professional and amateurish, like us. The Daedalus project alone claims to have interpreted the survey results from over 40,000 MMO gamers., but has any of this work predicted where MMO gaming is going, or are we just seeing where we've been? Or want to be?
