Micajah: The engine that’s being developed for the EVE player models right now – will that be used for the World of Darkness game?
Magnus: Absolutely. Yes. It’s definitely serving a dual purpose for us. We don’t want to use somebody else’s engine, because a lot of the games, when you start doing that, begin to look alike. We just wanted to have full control over what we can actually do. The only real way to do that is to make your own engine.
Micajah: What’s the status of the new World of Darkness game? What are your plans?
Magnus: We’re just trying to get the basics plotted out. Things like, what the game’s going to be [like], getting the graphics set up, and creating the right environments so our designers can start working on it full-time.
As for the team that will be working on it; I just want to be clear that we’re not going to take away from the EVE team. At the moment we’re planning on doubling the EVE team and keep their focus on EVE, and we’re setting up a completely separate World of Darkness team.
EVE is the thing for us right now. World of Darkness is still quite a ways down the line, so we can’t say much more on it. It’s going to take a few years to create it, so that’s where we’re at.
Micajah: How’s your familiarity with the World of Darkness progressing?
Magnus: Well, I’m pretty new to the whole thing, but I’m getting into it. White Wolf is sending me all these books, and I’m just working on reading through those.
It’s certainly a great story, and I think it will make for a really interesting MMO.
