Jewelcrafting
(Mining)
Though
you are able to make rings and necklaces and sometimes
head pieces, this profession really shines once you can make Gems.
It’s a
really nice profession to have with many of the Outland and Wrath of
the Lich
King armor pieces come with sockets that need to be filled with Gems
that only
a Jewelcrafter can make. The only downside to picking this profession
is that
in order to have a wide range of different Gem Designs, you have to
raise your
faction high with pretty much everyone! If you decide to pick up Mining
to go
with your Jewelcrafting profession, you also get a passive stamina buff
from
having Mining as a profession.
Benefits:
Even though being able to get all the Gem Designs
from the many different factions that you must increase your reputation
with in
order to receive, you will be loved, especially in the Auction House
where many
go to buy Gems for their new armor with empty sockets. You also can
make your
own trinkets which can rival that of level 80 trinkets, and they come
with
bonus sockets! You can also make your own Jeweler’s Gems,
which only the
Jewelcrafter can socket to their armor, these are prismatic gems that
can fit
in any socket and give a large amount of stat bonuses. For example, as
a JC you
can make Runed Dragon’s Eye which adds +32 spell power
compared
to Runed
Scarlet Ruby (red gem) that only adds +19 spell power.
| NOTE |
| In the next patch (3.2)
there will be changes in the
Jewelcrafting profession. Your Jeweler’s Gems will no longer
be prismatic gems,
but rather reflect their respected color. Runed Dragon’s Eye
will be a red gem
and no longer a prismatic one. There will also be a large addition of
new epic
gem designs, and the gems can be purchased or acquired through Alchemy
Transmutation. |

Tailoring
As a
cloth wearer, many casters pick up this profession. In Outlands being
able to
make Mooncloth or Shadow Weave armors were the best in slot, until raid
Tier
pieces. You get the benefit of being able to make your own bags, armor
and
having tailor-only item enhancements for your cloaks and leggings. The
downside
to this profession is once you reach end game material the embroideries
and
making 22 slot bags are the only benefit of having this profession, not
to
mention all the cloth it takes to make everything! Though, with a
simple quest
when you first enter Northrend through the Tailoring Trainer you are
able to
collect extra cloth from fallen mobs, this even includes if it is not
your mob
to loot, once the person loots their mob it becomes available for you
to loot
the extra cloth that they cannot see if they are not a tailor. Tailors
also can
make their own flying mounts, which are flying carpets! Engineers are
the only
other profession that can make mounts, but sadly, tailors
can’t make land
mounts.
| NOTE |
| In the next patch (3.2)
there will be changes to
Tailoring Embroideries, they will be given a buff! Darkglow Embroidery,
for
example, will restore 400 mana instead of 300 mana when you cast a
spell. There
will also be additions of new armor that can be made. The robes that
can be
made will rival Tier 7.5 robes. |
Notable Tailoring Patterns:
| Darkglow Embroidery |
Embroiders a magical
pattern into your
cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell.
You can
only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it
to
become soulbound. Requires 400 Tailoring to use. |
| Lightweave Embroidery |

pattern of light
into your cloak, giving you a chance to increase your spell power by
250 for 15
sec. when casting a spell. Embroidering your cloak will cause it to
become
soulbound. Requires 400 Tailoring to use. |
| Master’s
Spellthread |

the tailor’s pants can be embroidered, and doing so will

soulbound. |
