Runes of Magic - New Option Added for RMT Purchases -Update:Cards Now Available At Target Stores-

Posted Mon, Oct 12, 2009 by Medawky

Free-to-play game Runes of Magic announced a new method to obtain in game credits to enhance your game play experience. Runes of Magic allows players the option of purchasing "Diamonds", an in game currency,  to be used for purchases of mounts, consumables, updgrades, pets and various other useful game items. By adding the RMT to existing Zeevex Xtreme Game Cards, players who didn't have the ability to purchase diamonds through existing means can now do so at local retailers.

Here is the official announcement:

Frogster America, Inc. and Zeevex today announced that Diamonds, the currency for the in-game shop of Runes of Magic, will be purchasable using the Zeevex Xtreme Game Card. The Zeevex cards are already available in Blockbuster, Toys R Us, and select FYE stores in the U.S., with 7-Eleven, GameStop and Rite Aid availability planned for October. The cards provide instant access to in-game credits in Runes of Magic, alleviating the traditional hold period for credit card and PayPal transactions. The Zeevex payment method also opens up the game’s purchasable upgrade and enhancement items to anyone with access to one of the participating retail stores.

“Adding new payment methods that allow our players to experience Runes of Magic on their own terms is one of our primary goals in partnering with Zeevex,” said Lars Koschin, CEO of Frogster America, Inc. “The community has been asking for ways to accelerate the process of purchasing Diamonds and we can announce today that Diamonds bought through Zeevex have no waiting period before they are activated on player accounts, because they solve the typical online chargeback and fraud issues.”

“At Zeevex, our goal is to support fast-growing online games, like Runes of Magic, by providing multiple ways to monetize users quickly and easily,” said Dean Gebert, CMO of Zeevex. “We are pleased with the success that Runes of Magic is seeing with Zeevex and we know this is only the beginning.”

Zeevex Xtreme Game Cards come in increments of $5, $10, $20, and $25 depending on the retail store. The activated cards carry Zeevex Tokens, which can be converted to Diamonds at www.runesofmagic.com. Frogster is dedicated to serving its community and Zeevex is the first example of how it will quickly integrate best-of-breed solutions into Runes of Magic to open the game’s paid enhancements to the free user base.

***UPDATE***

Frogster announced on 10.12.09 that the cards are now available at select Target stores in the U.S.

SAN FRANCISCO, October 12, 2009 - Frogster America, Inc. today announced that Runes of Magic pre-paid game cards will soon be available at Target stores nationwide. The cards will provide instant access to in-game credits in Runes of Magic, and offer players the opportunity to purchase in-game credits where they shop the most. With more than 1,700 stores in 49 states, players of Runes of Magic will have more options to pay for items that enhance the game. The game cards started shipping to Target stores on October 1st.

“Having our Runes of Magic pre-paid game cards available at Target is a major opportunity for Frogster and our dedicated players who have been asking for a way to quickly buy items in game,” said Lars Koschin, CEO of Frogster America, Inc. “Now they can go to any Target store and be able to spend diamonds the same day.
