WoW Editorial - Class Discrimination

Is discrimination really alive and well in WoW?

In the World of Warcraft there is a huge number of classes, these are further divided up into more sub-classes through the talent system.  With all the various types of characters out there, are some players left out?  Are some turned into the peons, toiling away farming in the fields, while others get a free ride to join the reigning elite?

Players that chose to DPS should really ensure that they are either at the absolute top of the gear / skill ratio or pick a DPS class that brings some serious group benefit.  Failing to do that, they should expect and understand why they are not always able to find a group.  After all who wants all hunters or rogues in a group with their limited group buffs.  Sure they can both MD and Tranq but they don't offer a whole lot else other than big DPS, and that's not enough all the time.

Huntards, who needs 'em when they just auto-shoot and AFK.

I wouldn't choose a class based on such considerations. Getting into a PUG these days requires dps and gear far beyond what's needed to succeed in a 5-man or a raid. I'd rather play with people I know - guildies - or play solo. And I'd rather play a class I enjoy than one I don't that has more utility. (Personally, a hunter or rogue is always welcome in my group).

You forgot the ham sammich.

Paladins need to be taken down a notch.

Druids and priests are great utility classes, but they both need to change forms to take advantage of other abilities. Paladins really have no restriction on their abilities at all - they can be tanking a boss, bubble up to be immune to damage, toss some heals around, switch auras, etc.. and never miss a beat.

Maybe...but in retribution or protection they are not quite as effective in healing. It has always been my understanding they use either of their shields they'll drop aggro so I don't know that they are as powerful as you would say. However no doubt that all three specs of paladins and druids are formidable.
