When you think of MMOG for children, Funcom may not be the first developer to come to mind, but the developer who brought us the graphic world in Age of Conan filled with blood, guts, ale, and boobs recently announced a new subsidiary called SweetRobot that will be responsible for publishing Funcom's foray into social and casual MMOG gaming markets. The first project called Pets vs Monsters is aimed at a much younger audience, more specifically ages eight to twelve. The new MMOG has been in development by a team of fifteen people for almost two years and will go into public beta testing later this month. Read the full press release here.

"SweetRobot will be focusing on publishing games outside the traditional high-end MMO-segment which Funcom has been focusing on the last years," says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. "This will allow us to explore new market opportunities that differ from what we have been doing before while still retaining Funcom's familiar profile. This definitely marks a new and exciting direction for us."
