During an interview, Star Trek Online’s developer Cryptic Studios stated that space combat would probably make up 60% of the missions with ground combat the remaining 40%. If we’re going to spend the majority of our time in space, we may as well know what we’re getting into. Today we review the overall look and feel of space combat and try to impart some insider information along the way.

Space combat is really about 5 things; ship movement, offensive attacks, defensive actions, managing resources, and utilizing your bridge officers. Bridge officers could be under managing resources, but I like them to feel more empowered than just being a resource.
