IGN Previews The Northern Grasslands in Rise of the Godslayer

Posted Thu, Jan 28, 2010 by Martuk

The Northern Grasslands may seem like a peaceful enough place, but being a part of Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer ensures that it will be ripe with turmoil. IGN recently had the chance to take a look at the new region of Khitai and while the new area is protected by a the Great Wall, bandits threaten the countryside beyond the wall and a corrupt administrator threatens it from within. However, the people of the region still find ways to unwind by getting drunk, marrying the farmer's daughter, and even going cow tipping.

The forces and their administration have become a fixture in the region, though how they are perceived locally has always been dependent on their leadership. In any case, it has become a regular occurrence among the troops of the wall to marry the local farmer's daughters -- sometimes settling down locally, sometimes bringing their wives with them back to the heartland. The people of the grasslands maintain many old customs and traditions -- like paying homage to the many gods in shrines scattered throughout the land and getting drunk, going out, and tipping over sleeping cows.
