As engines in the virtual world are being pushed to warp speed and
phasers are getting set to stun, another game is quietly gearing up for
blast off. Allods Online, a Russian import
free-to-play, has
been tweaking and refining the game over the last several months in
preparation for its North American launch. This week Medawky continues
a project he began a couple weeks back, taking a brief look at the
games archetypes and classes, as well as an update to the top 10 list,
the microtransaction of the week, and a spotlight of the weeks top
free-to-play stories.

Mage archetype is similar in role and play style to many of the more
popular of today’s fantasy-based MMOGs--deal maximum damage and stay at
maximum range. The Allods mage can pick up some interesting utility
abilities via quest which allow them to become invisible, resurrect
allies, and teleport their parties out of combat (similar to the Call
of the Heroes spell that made EverQuest mages so useful.)
