Earlier today Blizzard announced in a press release that they had donated $1.1 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Blizzard presented the donation on Tuesday at their headquarters in Irvine, California. Fifteen World of Warcraft players that are recipients of the foundation's generosity, and their families, were also invited.

The kids got to meet the World of Warcraft development team for a behind the scenes look at how WoW is created.

The donation was based on 50 percent of the 2009 November and December sales of the Pandaren Monk in game pet. This represents the sales of over 110,000 pets!

Blizzard's CEO had this to say about the donation:

"We've had a long relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we're proud to support the priceless work they do for children," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "This donation also reflects the spirit and generosity of our players -- their enthusiasm for World of Warcraft and for supporting a good cause made this possible."

It's stuff like this that makes me keep coming back to Blizzard for online games. They are a real class act. The Pandaren Monk is also still available at Blizzard's online store, so if you're interested in picking one up head on over.
