It's not uncommon when we hear about a new MMOG that we also hear it will be coming to consoles. Age of Conan and Champions Online are just two MMOGs that planned console releases only to thus far fail at reaching the goal. APB (All Points Bulletin) is another MMOG that has vowed to shoot for a console release. But as development has continued on with the MMOG, the developers began to notice that a direct PC to console port would not work. APB Lead Designer EJ Moreland went on record and explained that the console launch will be a different game from the PC version, but it won't be a radical change.

So for us, what we see for APB on consoles – and we’ve had discussions about this – is to make a different game that fits better for the system. Not radically different, it will still have the basic core principals of content creation, online celebrity and deep match-making, but this will be an experience specifically for consoles and console players.

There is no estimate on when the console version might launch, but Moreland also touched on a number of other topics dealing with the future evolution of APB, the payment model, and some of what Realtime Worlds has planned for the game. EJ Moreland's full interview is available at Develop Online.
