New Torchlight MMORPG Details in PC Gamer

Posted Thu, Jul 01, 2010 by Martuk

Torchlight proved to be a surprising hit for Runic Games last year and plans for the MMORPG version are still moving forward. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Runic Gamer president Travis Baldree detailed some of the plans for the Torchlight MMORPG, explaining that the developers want to make an MMORPG that plays very close to a single player stating, "our vision is to have an MMO that plays as close to single player as we can get it. It will have the same focus on relatively fast action: carving your way through hordes of monsters with a large number of hugely devastating skills. The game has to be solo-able, but players will have to have skills that make them useful in a party and make them work together.”

The Torchlight MMORPG will be free-to-play and use microtransactions, a feature that Baldree won't be using as he has stated that he will never by a microtransaction. The full interview will be available in the new issue of PC Gamer that goes on sale today.
