Re-Re-confirmed.
Square Enix has officially confirmed that the Final Fantasy XI team is working on a MMOG for a next generation console. GameIndustry.biz might have written something like this:

"Japanese publisher Square Enix has confirmed that among the projects it is developing for next-generation consoles are a new Final Fantasy game from the team behind Final Fantasy X, and a new massively multiplayer game from the FFXI team."

GamesIndustry.biz has the entire Square Enix - Next Gen MMOG story.
