Based on one of the most
popular fictional settings in the world, href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/taxonomy/term/1407">DC
Universe Online

has some serious potential to make us rethink what a
super hero MMOG should be. But like all brand name IPs, the development
team at SOE Austin also has to live up to the lofty expectations of
both online gamers and comic fans across the globe. Ten Ton Hammer
recently had the opportunity to see how development is shaping up, and
whether or not it’s got that extra zing to attract a solid
audience on both the PC and PS3 when it launches early next year.

From the outset, DCUO
has all the bells and whistles you’d come to expect when
first logging into an MMOG, though with a few subtle additions that
make character creation slightly more daunting than it initially
appears. As is the industry norm, some of the most weighted decisions
you’ll make about your character are made within those first
few minutes, but your options extend beyond a basic class, race, or
faction selection.
