The thing about expansions - aside from all the extra stuff to do, classes to roll and new zones to explore - is that it draws one-time players back like a moth to a flame. Yes, even if you quit the game, vowing never to return, the promise makes folks stop and reconsider playing, testing their resolve to its limits. With World of Warcraft: Cataclysm less than a month away, Blizzard is keen to get some lapsed players back into Azeroth by offering a 7 day trial.

Now we know that none of you are ever going to let your accounts lapse, but I’m pretty sure you have guildies and friends who’ve gone on extended holidays from WoW. Yes, you know just the person don't you? So you might want to get said friends to check their inboxes for a note from Blizzard. The trial period itself ends on December 1st, a week before Cataclysm launches, giving them just enough time to sample the post-Shattering world before the new expansion hits.
