I spent twenty minutes trying to figure out the best way to phrase an interesting opening to this World of Warcraft-related auction in aid of
PlayforJapan and then realised I didn’t need one. Earlier this month, Japan was devastated by a massive earthquake and cities like Sendai in Miyagi-ken were battered by a tsunami. There are loads of ways to donate but if you’re a gamer and a WoW fan then this is a great way to give money to a fantastic cause and get something for your good deed.

At Blizzard’s campus in Irvine, there’s a massive statue of an orc on a wolf. This thing is infamous, as are the mini replicates created by WETA for Blizzard employees. Now and again, you see them auctioned off or on show as part of a Blizzard exhibition. Now you can own one - thanks to Blizzard employee Joseph Holley - and it will even be signed by Nick Carpenter, Blizzard’s Executive Art Director. For more information, check out the PlayforJapan page here and get bidding, it's for an awesome cause as Blizzard will donate all the money to the American Red Cross who will ensure it goes to help those in need. As of writing the statue is just $510 but I suspect it’ll get much higher before the auction closes on April 1st. So, if you've ever dreamed of owning one of these, frankly priceless, statues, this is a great time to give generously. Good luck!
