RIFT MMO News, Guides, and Features at Ten Ton Hammer

RIFT's 1.2 patch is scheduled to release on May 10th, but Trion Worlds launched a new prelude event today to give players a taste of things to come. The Spoils of War preview event deployed with today's update, adding four new daily quests relating to strange treasures falling from the sky over Meridian and Sanctum. The treasures have corrupted non-ascended who touch them and the Mendicant Order and College of Planar Studies are investigating the situation and working on a way to resist the corruption. To add to the turmoil, an explosion of earth and fire rifts are erupting more frequently and even in areas that they were previously not seen.

Players that complete the daily quests will receive containers with random rewards that can include a limited time companion pet, rare artifacts and possibly even crafting plaques. Check out MMORPG's preview of the event for more details.

Trion also posted a slew of new details for the 1.2 update on the RIFT forums and their Facebook page over the last few days. Some new features to note are Facebook integration into the game, new cosmetic appearance slots, a 10-man raid instance and much more.
