Blizzard has been touting the Dungeon Journal (or the Encounter Journal as its sometimes been called) as one of the big draws of 4.2. Now that the next World of Warcraft patch is due, Blizzard blue Kaivax has posted a nice preview going into more detail on the community site.

He explains how the Journal will work, from pressing M while in a dungeon to bring up the new interface. There’s also plenty of nice pictures illustrating the bosses, their loot as well as info on how to kill them. The idea behind it is, essentially, to keep people in game more and while it won't always stop people tabbing out to check walkthroughs, guides or YouTube videos, it certainly looks fantastic. The interface is currently only available in Cataclysm dungeons but it’s a slick new feature that I can’t wait to get my hands on when Rage of the Firelands goes live.
