  • Austin Game Conference: Preview of The Ryzom Ring

Gamersinfo.com has posted a preview of the upcoming expansion to the Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring. Keep reading to see what they thought.

Just over 2 years ago French MMO developer Nevrax announced they would be doing something revolutionary with their decision to allow players to create their own content for their popular MMO Saga of Ryzom. We had the opportunity to sit down at this year's Austin Game Conference with Nevrax’s Director Milko Berset, and once again see the progress that they had made on The Ring. Sitting down with Milko in Nevrax’s booth in the Technology Pavilion I can see that the tools have progressed a lot from when we last got a peak at them.

  • Lineage II: Oath of Blood gets ready to expand the players’ experience

GameZone has posted a preview of the upcoming expansion to Lineage II, Oath of Blood. Do they think this will be a hit or a miss? Keep reading...

Since the launch of Lineage II in April of 2004, the game has seen a lot of changes, the evolution of the community and strong changes along the way.

Much of the criticism has been addressed. Players who have violated the EULA (end-user licensing agreement) have found that NCsoft has cracked down hard. In fact, as of the middle of September, approximately 50,000 accounts will have been banned for infractions. There are been four ‘chronicles’ or major updates to the game.

  • EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer Updated Impressions

Gamespot has posted an updated preview of the upcoming expansion to EQII. Keep reading to see what they think...

One of the advantages of massively multiplayer online role-playing games that let you play in persistent virtual worlds with thousands of other players is that they can evolve and grow over time. The world of EverQuest II will experience another growth spurt with the release of the upcoming third expansion, EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer. With Echoes of Faydwer, the designers at Sony Online Entertainment continue to tie together the worlds of EverQuest II and the original EverQuest. Faydwer was an area in the original game, and the traditional home of the elves, dwarves, and gnomes is back and better than before.

  • Spiffy or Iffy?

GameSpy took a look at the upcoming expansion to Everquest II, Echoes of Faydwer. Keep reading to find out if they liked what is to come...

Two retail expansions to EverQuest II have been released to date, but depending on who you ask, the upcoming Echoes of Faydwer may be the first that's truly deserving of the name. Due out this November, Echoes looks to expand the game in many meaningful ways, adding not only a landmass of significant size, but a new playable race, and some apparently far-reaching game-wide changes. We recently caught up with SOE to get an idea of what we can expect.

  • A Peek At ArchLord

There is a new MMORPG coming out called ArchLord and Ten Ton Hammer has the information you need before the game is released! We've played the ArchLord beta and have compiled tons of information plus our impression of the game. If you ever wanted to have the ultimate power in a game to do whatever you wanted to then ArchLord might just be the game for you.

"ArchLord is your standard Asian fantasy MMORPG that throws in a few new and exciting concepts to mix things up. You've got your standard Warrior, Mage, and Archer arch-types (Shamans, Elementalists, and Berserkers are also available for play). They each have a unique role that allows them to utilize their preferred weapon to slash, pierce, or toast their enemies. You've got some pretty generic races too which are the Humans, Orcs, and Moon Elves. You have a giant sprawling world filled with all kinds of fantasy themed cities (that are very well done) and tons of mean monsters that are hording tons of wonderful loot."

  • Grab Yer Blades And Get Ready to Fight!

Thats right! In this preview at MMORPG.com we get a look at avatar combat. Don't miss a word!

The big news out of PAX was that Pirates of the Burning Sea will launch in June of 2007 and that the feature list now includes avatar combat. We played the game and sat down with Producer John Scott Tynes at PAX to discuss exactly how avatar combat works.

“[We] made the decision a few months ago that we were going to release in ’07,” explained Tynes as we sat in a Bellevue Subway. Once made, that decision allowed them to pursue something they’d always wanted, but never felt they had time to do correctly: avatar combat.

  • Will Middle-earth Become Your New Home?

MMORPG.com had a chance to preview Lord of the Rings Online during PAX. They have updated their site to bring us this preview. Keep reading to find out if they think the game is a hit...

The star of the Turbine Entertainment booth at PAX was Lord of the Rings Online. In taking on this second massive license, Turbine has a mighty weight on their shoulders and expectations to live up to.

“This is an MMO for people who love MMOs,” explained Lead Systems Designer Nik Davidson. He made special note of how the game had not tried to “reinvent the wheel” when it came to things like interface, controls and basic mechanism. Lord of the Rings Online will not have change for change’s sake.
