  • An oldie, but a goodie gets an expansion.
Stratics has posted a preview of Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny. Exclusive video footage of Paris Hilton reciting the following continues to
    be unavailable:

"Ok, so we live in a world were pop culture now has videogames and movies jumping from the pages of comic books. Why shouldn’t we see the reverse? NCsoft certainly thought it possible and shortly after the launch of CoH, Blue King Studios rolled out the first City of Heroes comic book (Volume 1, June 04). Beginning with the June edition of this year, the mantle has been passed to Top Cow to continue the comic book."

  • I'm a bad guy AND I wear tights.
GamerGod has a short preview of City of Villains posted. We dodged laser beams and evil maniacs to find out that they possibly wrote this:

"True believers all across the servers of City of Heroes need to make sure they are ready. The sequel to the critically acclaimed MMORPG City of Heroes, entitled City of Villains. Offering a wide variety of customization options, new powers and abilities, City of Villains allows players to get in touch with their dark side, and start working their way towards infamy. Just an FYI, the game does not include package monologue's to use when you have the hero captured and feel the need to reveal your whole plan thus give said hero time to escape. What it DOES include is awesome villain bases with your own nefarious weapon defense systems, new types of missions, and best of all: PVP!"

  • Saga of Heroes, not to be confused with Saga of those everyday peon type guys.
WorthPlaying has a preview of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes locked and loaded. Of all the things that they could have written, we are almost sure they wrote this:

"The buzz around Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is immense. Sigil games is made up of some of the development team behind EverQuest, including CEO Brad McQuaid, former EverQuest producer. Sigil is designing Vanguard around the notion that today's MMOs are becoming too kind and gentle, so they want this game to be as hardcore as EverQuest. The bad-old-days of long corpse runs and xp loss (and possible de-leveling) upon death are back. To those who look back on EQ with nostalgic eyes I utter this warning: Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it."

  • Huxley, it sounds like a T.V. sitcom.
GameSpot has a preview Huxley online and raring to be read. We checked it once. We checked it twice. We still think they maybe wrote this:

"Though not much about the game is known so far, what we do know is that it simply looks fabulous. The very impressive gameplay trailer that was shown off was running in real time on the latest graphics cards. Of course, the demo focused heavily on the technical aspects of the game, such as the depth-of-field effect that realistically blurs objects in the foreground or in the distance, depending on what you're focusing on. The characters themselves are rendered in vivid detail. For example, you can see the bulging forearms of a soldier, as well as facial self-shadowing, like the shadows on his cheeks and neck. A swarm of giant insectlike creatures then entered the scene. The game was paused so that the designers could show off the incredible amount of detail on each creature. They zoomed in on the skin, which looked like flesh and not some kind of textured polygon."

  • War is Hell and so is London.
GameSpot has a preview of Flagship Studio's Hellgate: London posted. After looking into our crystal ball we decided they may have written this:

"Like the Diablo games, Hellgate is built on randomization. The game creates random, unique levels every time you play, so no two players will ever experience the exact same game. Additionally, Hellgate randomizes much more, such as the loot that demons drop when they die, the generation of rare items, and more. Bill Roper, the CEO of Flagship, said during the presentation that Hellgate has a methodology that's about 10 times better than that of the Diablo games, meaning it can create better environments and items on the fly."

  • Bad guys as fun guys.
1UP has a preview of City of Villains posted. It's possible that this coded message was found in the Personals section of
    the newspaper:

"With great power come great ass-kicking supergadgets and nefarious world-exploding schemes. And no, that wasn't a typo--it's effectively the basis behind City of Villains, the long-awaited follow-up to CGW's 2004 MMORPG of the Year, City of Heroes. At long last, players will finally have the opportunity to get down with their bad selves."

  • Here comes the SUN.
Digital Entertainment Network has a preview of SUN posted. We think they wrote this, but we can't be sure:

"Graphic wise, they really seemed to have taken their time. Everything feels very polished and very very clean. The colors were somewhat subdued, the greens wash a little into grey or white and they weren't overpowering. Honestly it added an ethereal feel to the game, like you were looking at it through the fog of imagination or something. Truth be told it was very effective and made me feel more at home in the game. Someone really had their head on straight when they created the characters for this game as well. Intricate armor was glinting in the sun, interesting straps of leather helped draw your eyes to the unique weapons that each of the three playable characters could use. Really no part was left untouched by detail on this and it really helps the title overall."

  • I'm not a bad guy. I just play one in City of Villains.
Digital Entertainment News has a preview of City of Villains posted. Three out of four villains claim that they wrote this:

" This year at E3 we had the pleasure of meeting Jack Emmert, Statesman himself from City of Heroes. He was on hand showcasing his upcoming sequel/companion title City of Villains, which, as the name implies focuses on the “other” side of the costumed coin. "

  • If you build it they might not come. Let them build it.
RPGVault has posted a preview of The Ryzom Ring, a user toolkit for The Saga of Ryzom. We're pretty sure that they wrote this:

"Announced last month, Ryzom Ring is a very unusual and interesting extension of Nevrax' imaginative massively multiplayer endeavor, The Saga of Ryzom. It has been described as a set of tools that will give players the ability to act as designers by creating their own lands and adventures, which they can then share with others "

  • Soft tires and big guns.
Worthplaying has posted a preview of Auto Assault. Yep, they wrote this, maybe:

"I must admit, Auto Assault was one of the coolest new games I saw at E3 this year. NCSoft's new action MMORPG is some pretty slick stuff. I also have to admit that I was surprised by the game, which was being touted as the "fastest, most destructive MMORPG" in advertisements, which automatically set off warning bells in my head from the moment I saw the first ad. Fortunately, it really does live up to the claims by combining some of the best elements of action games with a strong MMORPG backbone."
