  • We're still not sure if Guild Wars is any good. More reviews! Fragland has reviewed Guild Wars. A friend of a friend mentioned that they maybe said this:

"The graphics are just superb. It might not have the polygon count of Everquest II but GW surely makes up for that in terms of graphical atmosphere. This world feels right and extremely appealing. While looking on the world map it is a big maze but in-game you can easily forget that issue when you see some of the mindblowing landscapes and landmarks like ruined (or even floating) castles, enormous bridges etc."

  • Has anyone heard of this game called Guild Wars? Is it any good?Boomtown has taken a look at the ArenaNET sales hit Guild Wars. We are almost confident that they wrote something like this:

"The key selling point is that you don’t pay a monthly fee; you just buy the retail version and play it online for an unlimited time. How will ArenaNet keep this going then? The plan is to release an expansion every 6-9 months but supposedly it will not be necessary to buy them in order to stay competitive. The level cap is planned to be the same throughout so even if you take a break for a few months you can always jump back in and be the same level as your friends (but they may have slightly better equipment than you of course."

  • MMOG without the MMO, but freshly squeezed. Gamezilla gets to the goods that are Guild Wars in their review. We are pretty sure they wrote:

"First and foremost, Guild Wars has no monthly fee. Buy the game and that's it. This is because the developers have designed a system whereby they'll occasionally release expansion packs, not requiring a monthly fee to keep the game up and running. All of the game characters are in the same server, but the overall feeling of the game is sparely populated, because each outdoor area is instanced to include just a few players. In addition, the normal party size is four people. The gameplay is unusual in that unlike other MMORPGs, loot is not a primary focus of the game, but rather represents a small part of your advantage. Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to facilitate skillful play, both in PvE and PvP environments, and for the most part, I think they've succeeded, as it's not about how long you've played your character, but how you play your character."

  • The only similarity between World of Warcraft and Guild Wars is the number of reviews. GamerPro gives us their take on the hugely successful title, Guild Wars. Here is brief snippet from the article:"Guild Wars does deliver where it counts most: combat. Battles are a blast due to the endless possibilities in hybrid classes and abilities. With an option to choose a secondary class, no two characters are the same. Emphasizing strategy over twitch, success in battles hinge on whether you're making the best of those eight ability slots." • An oldie, but a goodie. Phil Brierly has written a review of Dark Age of Camelot. This review is geared to the new MMORPG player. Here is brief snippet from the article: "Although Dark Age of Camelot is about 3 years old now, because of constant updates and expansions the graphics have remained very impressive. When you enter a royal chamber or large cave, fighting hug monsters, you really get a sense of scale. The textures, although not on a par with the likes of Everquest 2, are still top notch. This combined with the feeling of reality, no cartoon style graphics like World of Warcraft here, really help to immerse you within the myth of the world. When charging at full sprint speed with your huge pole-arm ready to bonk some foolish Troll who happens to get in your way, it really feels like you are there." • Vendetta Online Review A niche game with a nice pricetag gets a niche review at Game Industry News. "With plenty of Medieval style MMORPG’s floating around where wizards, warriors and gnomes are plentiful, Vendetta Online brings you to a sci-fi world where you get to man your own spacecraft. This is, no doubt, a welcome relief from a world flooded with some games that just look alike. The story starts with what we all knew would happen; mankind took over the stars and made space into a metropolis of space stations. Space stations take over for cities, and asteroids and space junk take over for…well…potholes? Of course, there are warring factions because we all can’t just get along, even in space!"

  • Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookies Review More Star Wars...the expansion pack for Star Wars Galaxies, called Rage of the Wookies have been reviewed by the good folks at GameZone. "Before getting into the meat of the expansion, there are a couple of things that must be noted: First, players need to have the original title and the first expansion, Jump to Lightspeed, in order to participate in this title. Rage of the Wookiees is a digital download and Jump to Lightspeed is included with all orders of Episode III at no additional charge."

  • Quickly becoming the "we get the picture, it's good" game of the season.

    • Guild Wars at EscMag
"Guild Wars takes a bold stab at the genre by eliminating the monthly fee and giving players either a chance to quest to a higher level or begin Player vs. Player combat immediately with a high level, pre-designed character. The choice is yours, but either way you win."

  • Yo-ho-ho! So ye want te be a scurvy Pirate, do ye? Well, let me tell you all about… OK, that’s enough. There’s no way I can carry a Pirate accent all the way through this article, and let’s be honest – you don’t want me to try. Really. We’ll throw in a couple of “Yar!”’s and “Avast!” here and there, and we’ll all be the better for it.
