If you just can’t get enough Star Trek in your daily diet developer Disruptor Beam has a little something in the works that might help sate your voracious appetite for more Trek. Disruptor Beam today announced a new partnership with CBS to develop Star Trek Timelines, a new trek-based strategy roleplaying game featuring characters from across all of the Star Trek eras.

Described as a story-driven social game, Star Trek Timelines will allow players to build their own starships and man it with a crew to explore the vast universe of Star Trek. During their adventures, players will meet characters from Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise as well as explore space with friends and strangers.

Unlike some other Star Trek games that have taken an action-only approach to gameplay, Star Trek Timelines claims that players will explore new worlds and solve problems with not only combat, but also diplomacy and science.

Star Trek Timelines is currently planned for release on PC as a browser-based game and will also be playable on Android and iOS devices.

“We want to create a new generation of strategy game for tablet and mobile devices and one that is as large and deep as the Star Trek universe itself,” said Jon Radoff, CEO of Disruptor Beam. “I grew up watching the franchise and have always felt that the best episodes were those that went beyond the coolness of the technology or vastness of space; the ones which told the story of characters making important decisions that had an impact on others, on civilizations, planets, and technology. Star Trek Timelines will encompass all of these concepts, allowing you to explore the vastness of space along with your friends—letting you live out the ‘where no man has gone before’ mantra we all love—but will also allow you to make decisions that impact your future, your friends and even the fate of the Galaxy.”

No gameplay or screenshots were revealed with today’s announcement, but a short teaser trailer is available below with some nostalgic Star Trek voices borrowed from the various television shows and a nifty Starfleet emblem. Just don’t expect to see any gameplay just yet. There is, however, a little teaser for the story along with a few other details available on the official website.

"Temporal anomalies, mirror universes and time travel have been recurring themes throughout all the Star Trek series and several of the films. This will form the basis of Star Trek Timelines, and gives us the opportunity to explore a lot of “what-if” scenarios: what if Spock and Jean-Luc Picard got to serve on the same ship? What would it be like to have members of the mirror universe’s Terran Empire on your crew? This game will allow you to join forces with your favorite characters from across the many eras and universes from Star Trek lore—and then make decisions that impact the future of civilizations, star systems and the galaxy itself."

If you’re attending PAX East in Boston this weekend, you can drop by the Disruptor Beam booth to see what they’re working on. You may or may not get a peek at Star Trek Timelines but you can definitely get a peek at their other title, Game of Thrones Ascent. And while their PAX East page doesn’t include the booth number, it will apparently be located right off one of the main hallways at the north end. If you do drop by you can chat with the devs, take part in developer panel discussions and even attend a party Saturday night at a location to be announced at a later time. Have fun and happy hunting.

You can sign up to join the closed beta on the Star Trek Timelines website.
