BioWare has announced their targeted launch window for
Star Wars: The Old Republic in Australia and New Zealand. The launch window is targeting March 1st, 2012, but that is subject to change. While some fans may have imported the game already, BioWare is looking into possible ways to allow those players to keep playing on a local server once they come online in March.

Thats OK,I'll keep playing RIFT, give SWTOR a miss , and wait for GuildWars2.
I've played EQ , EQ2, Wow and Rift on american servers, and i would have been happy to do that with Swtor. This no release locally till march 2012 is pathetic!
I have my doubts about the seriousness of hosting in australia, anyone remotely IT savvy knows the cost issues hosting in Australia has. The whole notion moving current US server players to Australia based servers is complex and requires so much pre thought is, well, lafable, very small patch to up date patch and host ips and server character move system all which exist in many mmos... its pretty much a no brainer, so why the herring ?
My guess is to see just how many potential oceanic subscribers there are and if its remotely viable to base in australia if not then perhaps and asian host, where on costs are considerably cheaper, then its a question of is it worth haivng mulitple data centres, in the end it will all just run from the US.
My biggest issue with the way it was released and the reason ill be boycotting bioware is the treatment of Australian retailers have recieved, to allow the purchase of the game only from off shore POS is pretty poor form and I would think against some kind of software distribution agreement... probably cheaper to pay the fine.
