SWTOR Weekly Q&A Tackles PvP, New Race Additions and More

Posted Fri, Jun 29, 2012 by Martuk

It’s Friday again and that means it’s time for another round of answers to questions from the Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) community from BioWare. This week Lead Game Designer Daniel Erickson, Senior Designer Austin Peckenpaugh and Senior PvP Designer Rob Hinkle fielded questions from the community on community feedback on game design, the possibility for additional new races to be added in the future and PvP.

One of the better questions in this week’s Q&A answers how that tie-breaker is decided in the Voidstar PvP map that tends to frustrate a lot of players.

We've actually gone through a series of adjustments to improve this very system.  As of 1.3, here is how a winner is determined in Voidstar: There are 6 checkpoints inside the Warzone - the 3 sets of blast doors, the bridge in the reactor room, the forcefields in the cargo room, and the datacore itself.  The team that gets the furthest wins the Warzone.  If both teams get to the same checkpoint, then whichever team gets to that point the quickest wins.

When the Warzone figures out that one team has already won the match (since they are the 2nd team on the attack and have exceeded their opponents’ progress, or have gotten to the same spot faster), the match will end immediately instead of playing out the rest of the game to a known ending.

Geez Daniel you have really become quite the expert at not answering questions with concrete answers.

For once it would be nice for you to day "well we are actually going to do x y and z" not simply "We have considered that option" "those requests are on our horizon" or other BS ambiguous nonsensical comments.

Why accept questions for Q&A that you are not going to answer? Oh and if you hadn't noticed, the game has been released!!! Why all the secrecy!

I still say F2P Before 2013.... or gone completely. Shame though, could 've been quite an enjoyable game.
@ Adraemza, so true. If they would simply adjust their attitude towards the playerbase then maybe things would be different. I'm usually quite forgiving when it comes to issues with mmo's but they are just being assholes from day one. At the end of the day i decide what i pay for and it's defo not TOR. A franchise like Starwars deserves better imo

WTF??? I thought well let's check out that Q&A And they pretty much start with this:

-As a reminder, we previously suggested a shift in focus in your questions. As development plans are always subject to change, questions about future features will often get vague answers which can be repetitive and sometimes annoying. With that in mind, the development team is more interested in questions about current in-game features or systems, or questions about why development decisions were made. You’re still welcome to ask questions about future features and we’ll continue to answer them where appropriate – just expect the occasional ‘soon.’-

This is just arrogance, and arrogance is a privilege for those who succeed...

I really don't understand racism in the real world. People are what people are, regardless of skin pigmentation or where their ancestors came from. There's really only one real-world race - the Human Race - and I loathe everyone equally.
