5 Reasons Why The Old Republic Will Appeal to Old-School Star Wars Fans

Posted Fri, Dec 02, 2011 by jeffprime

Star Wars has been a cultural phenomenon for almost 35 years and The Old Republic looks to add to that legacy. While the game may focus on players who weren’t even born when the original trilogy was released, we examine five reasons why The Old Republic will appeal to old-school fans.

Action

In the original trilogy, there is a ton of action. In the vast majority of scenes, there is always something going on or the stage is being set for some later action. Look at Star Wars (my personal favorite) and look at how quickly the story progresses from one action-filled segment to another (the attack on Leia’s ship, blasting out of Mos Eisley, rescuing Leia on the Death Star, fighting off the Tie Fighters during their escape on the Millennium Falcon, and the final battle of the Death Star).

While playing the game you feel like you are in the movie (Not just in it but a part of it)and get to make choices. The game offers so much to the gamers who are sick of the same old stories , options , and play style.

I have been reading some of the fan posts and people saying the game story (Sith side) is too dark. The fact the story hits people that hard should tell it all. Anyone can look at a game and put it down. Try it.. Lets see you bash on it then.

Without a doubt the game will last through the times and any real fan will be part of it.... Cya on the Dark Side.

I love how they managed the story to get such a grip on you. i played beta as a sith bounty hunter and made some really dark side choices, considering i always played light side in swkotor, it made me feel bad actually.

and then i developed an evil laugh, and a bastard was born ;)
