SWTOR patch 1.2 interview with James Ohlen

With a successful launch behind them, SWTOR looks ahead to the future. Ten Ton Hammer’s own Benjamin J. de la Durantaye sat down with James Ohlen, Game Director, at GDC 2012 for a look at the upcoming 1.2 update.

James Ohlen: We had two major things that we wanted to get into 1.2. One was more open game content, which is the operation flashpoint and warzone. Two, we wanted to get in the features that were expected as part of a AAA MMO that weren’t in Star Wars: The Old Republic at the time. That would be guild banks, UI customization, and the like. We wanted those things in; then the team was working on other stuff that we were able to get in. At the same time, we had a lot of bug fixing going on. When it finally all came together, it was ridiculous actually. The size of the game update 2 is hard for me to comprehend sometimes when I look at it. I knew update 2 was going to be ambitious, but the team really kind of outdid themselves.
