Cal Ripken's Real Baseball, formerly Ultimate Baseball Online, was a free-to-play baseball world. Player competed against each other for fame, glory and rank. Gamers earned achievements based on their performance on the field. The game featured the following modes of play: Practice (which included fielding, batting, and pitching), Pick up game (play against other people online for a quick game of baseball), Tournament Play (special tournaments with exclusive requirements and prizes) or League Play.
The official website displayed character's statistics, and players could form their own teams (or join one) and compete in league championships. Character customization was based on primary position, gender, body type, and facial features. Experience Points enhanced characters by increasing a wide variety of player attributes.
Servers for Cal Ripken's Real Baseball shut down in September 2008 with no press release. It is unknown whether the closure is permanent.
