  • Ryzom Ring Website Merges with Main Site

Posted on the official site for The Saga of Ryzom is a note that they have merged the previously seperate Ryzom Ring site with the main site.

In order to have the site easier to manage during the busy times around the Ring release, and also because we are still getting the Ryzom Ring closer to Ryzom, we have moved the Ryzom Ring's website into Ryzom.com today.
Basically, we simply copied the site content to relevant sections of Ryzom.com.

  • Multi-shard film-makers conference

Posted on the Saga of Ryzom official site lets us know about an unofficial player event. Have some talent with film making? Keep reading for more information...

I would like to invite everyone interested to an Atysian film-makers conference on the Zora Stage, Arispotle Shard on Saturday the 22nd July at 9pm BST (8pm GMT, 4pm EDT, 1pm PDT). This conference is open to everyone from all shards. The main purpose will be to meet other film makers and exchange ideas.
If you don't have an Arispotle character all ready, just make a new Zoraï character on Arispotle and talk to Chiang about coming over to the mainland.

The discussion will include a variety of topics such as:

    * What do you use to make your videos

    * Good resources for free music

    * Exchanging ideas about what sorts of videos we can make

    * How can we support each other in making videos

    * How can we host/promote our videos, so more people from and new to Atys can see them

    * Should we agree on a central site for Atysian videos (say Acridiel's site and/or others).

There are already forum threads about this on the English and German boards, and hopefully someone can translate it into French too. More info about the event is on these threads.

I hope to see you all there!

Head over to the official site to learn more. Remember to keep up to date with the latest news, interviews and information on all your favorite MMOs, including Saga of Ryzom right here at Ten Ton Hammer!

  • Ruins of Silan Starter Guide

Posted on the Saga of Ryzom official web site yesterday, this comic like guide is targeted at newcomers to the Ruins of SIlan.

Turenkarn, Game Master of Aristople, worked recently on a comic book made of screenshots of Ruins of Silan, in order to help the newcomers in their first steps in the game. Veterans will surely find a good place for it in their library as well. : ) Big thanks to Turenkarn and to the CS team for their help!

Looking to download this guide? Look no further, it's a click away.

  • Build a Guild Page...

On the official site for the Saga of Ryzom, there were a few changes this week. The first is that they have added a new guild section to the site.

We've just opened a new section on the website, for the guilds. You can add here your own page presenting your guild, with pictures, links etc.

Also, they have added more servers to help with the download of the game for those who are taking advantage of the free trial offer!

Since the release of the Ruins of Silan and the new Free Trial offer, the client installer is being downloaded several thousand times every day, filling up the bandwidth we dedicated for the client download. We have thus added extra mirror servers and upgraded the total bandwidth from 200 Mbps to 600 Mbps - you should now be able to download the game at full speed again. :-)

Head over to the Saga of Ryzom site to find out more!

  • It's better to be a newb...

Nevrax has just completed a large patch to Saga of Ryzom that implements a new player zone called the "Ruins of Silan". The zone is meant to make it much easier for players to get into and learn the game.

And now, a few words about the content of this patch.

    • The New Player Experience (NPE) called "Ruins of Silan", which is the major addition of this patch
    • The new interface
    • Emotes, which will take into account the player characters' gender
    • A new melee & range combat stanza
    • The Outpost crafting tool adding an energy bonus of +20, which effect will be improved
    • Jewels magic protections, whose effects against mobs' magical critical hits should work properly
    • Actions on guild members: the issue which refrained from kicking/promoting members should be fixed
    • The missile of the launcher, which should be displayed correctly
    • Landmarks, to allow you to add landmarks at the precise location of your character
    • The access to the inventory of your mektoubs when you craft, which will be limitated to the stables where they rest.
    • The position of team members on the map, which should be more accurate
    • The "undetermined" fame status, to make it work as intended with the merchants: as long as you remain "undetermined", fames higher than 50 are considered as being 50 and not more
    • The healing possibilities in PvP areas (the arena and GvG regions), where you should be able to heal your team members again.
    • The safe zones in GvG areas (Nexus, Lands of Umbra): someone inside a safe zone shouldn't be able to attack another character anymore
    • Texts in the compass: the texts displayed below will be entirely readable.
    • A new team command: /invite playername, enabling remote invitation
    • German, French and English texts, which should be cleaner
    • Some collision optimisation all over Atys, especially in Zoraï landscape
    • A few new chat commands and a new channel.

You can find the complete patch notes at the Ryzom Ring official site.

With the newbie changes and the innovative new Ryzom Ring scenario editor coming out in the near future, it's worth giving the game a looksee. If you're interest is piqued, it just so happens that there's a 7 day free Ryzom trial.

  • How to post news is the first item. Honestly I could have used this before I started posting news myself.

With the new Ryzom site come a few new features. One of these is the ability to post your own news on the homepage. This way you can inform other players about a planned event, show your last Ryzom creations, present a new tutorial etc. and benefit from a larger audience than on the boards. I'll explain here how to post a news. :)

    1. First, you must be logged in to be able to create a news.
    2. Then in the news section (ryzom.com/news), click on the "Submit a News" button to create a news.
    3. A draft is created; you now have to enter a pertinent title, a short explanation in plain text (that will appear in the search), and the main text of your news. You can also define a category in the list at the bottom of the page.
    4. Once you are satisfied with your news, change its status to "pending" (by clicking on "submit" in the tab at the top-right of the page). Your news is now in our moderation queue.

    More information here.
