  • Create Your Own Content

What could be more fun than sending your friends through content that you created for them! Get a look at how the folks at Nevrax are making it happen with the upcoming expansion to Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring. brings us a preview complete with screenshots...

I’ve read a number of the other previews out there, and I don’t know if the authors just didn’t have enough time or didn’t want to bore their audience with details, but tough noogies, because I’m dragging you through the absolute guts of this thing.

To create your own Ring, you sign in the same as you would normally. And as long as we’re talking about logging in, I have to tell you - Ryzom has the BEST login screen: Yes, the art is fantastic, but the real winner is the "loading" messages that show up. In most games, you’ll see a quick flurry of things like, "Loading Textures" or "Patching vers. 1.11.23 to 1.12.33" or something equally boring. With Ryzom, you get such fun messages as:

    Loading Random Loading Messages
    Installing Ninja Yubos
    Shrinking Trykers
Spare Yubos - who knows, maybe one day, they will spare your life

Comedy gold, I tell you! Once you’re logged in, though, you choose "Edit" to go into the Ring section and begin creating your own world.

  • Nevrax opens up the Ryzom world to let you--the player--design your own online stories.

GameSpot has posted their first impressions of the upcoming expansion to Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring. See what they think...

The concept of allowing users to generate their own content is nothing new. Back as far as the late eighties, gamers were getting in on the act with packages such as Sensible Software's Shoot-'Em-Up Construction Kit. Since then, some developers have shipped tools within their games to enable players to create custom levels or missions, and such freedom soon proved popular as online communities flourished--Doom, Morrowind, and Neverwinter Nights were just a few to galvanise would-be designers to get creative.

  • New Demo Videos Released

The folks at Ryzom have decided to give us all a peek at the upcoming Ryzom Ring...

The first video is an extract from Gamer.TV weekly show available through MSN Video (needs at least IE 6 to view) that shows the Ring in action with a voiceover by Milko from Nevrax that was demoed in England. The second is a series of 14 shorter videos shown on ViTiVi.TV on a recent German press tour showing many different sequences of the Ring, again with an interview/voiceover from Milko. Hopefully this will whet your appetite as the Ring draws ever nearer. The voiceovers for all these videos are in English.

  • Multi-shard film-makers conference

Posted on the Saga of Ryzom official site lets us know about an unofficial player event. Have some talent with film making? Keep reading for more information...

I would like to invite everyone interested to an Atysian film-makers conference on the Zora Stage, Arispotle Shard on Saturday the 22nd July at 9pm BST (8pm GMT, 4pm EDT, 1pm PDT). This conference is open to everyone from all shards. The main purpose will be to meet other film makers and exchange ideas.
If you don't have an Arispotle character all ready, just make a new Zoraï character on Arispotle and talk to Chiang about coming over to the mainland.

The discussion will include a variety of topics such as:

    * What do you use to make your videos

    * Good resources for free music

    * Exchanging ideas about what sorts of videos we can make

    * How can we support each other in making videos

    * How can we host/promote our videos, so more people from and new to Atys can see them

    * Should we agree on a central site for Atysian videos (say Acridiel's site and/or others).

There are already forum threads about this on the English and German boards, and hopefully someone can translate it into French too. More info about the event is on these threads.

I hope to see you all there!

Head over to the official site to learn more. Remember to keep up to date with the latest news, interviews and information on all your favorite MMOs, including Saga of Ryzom right here at Ten Ton Hammer!

  • Can You Make a Better Zone? posted a preview of the forthcoming addition to The Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring.

We’ve all done it. We may not admit to it, but we have. “Oh, I could’ve done better then that stupid quest!”, “That quest was teh suk!” or perhaps something not quite as intelligent and simply filled with words caught by the profanity filter of many MMO’s. Armchair quest writing is quickly gripping the world of massively multiplayer titles. Of course, there’s not really any way to prove our self-toughted abilities, but we’re usually quite certainly that our guild or friends or whoever happens to be within earshot will agree…at least to our faces. At least, there was never any way…until now.

Keep reading to see how rated Ryzom Ring. Stay tuned to Ten Ton Hammer for all the lastest Ryzom news!
