  • Class Preview - Scion of Set

The official site for Age of Conan has been updated with the first in a series of looks at the classes that will be found in this upcoming game.

This week we start taking a look at some of the classes in Age of Conan in a little more detail. First up for this weeks update we travel to the desert lands of Stygia to find out more about the Scion of Set from the Priest Archetype.

Dedicated to the god Set, the Scions are often considered fanatics whose dedication to their god reaches devotion that many would confuse for insanity. The snake god offers the constant promise of power beyond mortal means and demands nothing short of total commitment in return.

  • Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - CES Preview Based on interviews with Erling Ellingsen (Product Manager) and Jorgen Tharaldsen (Product Director)

WarCry Posted this CES interview and preview of Age of Conan. Don't miss a thing!

We started in character creation and we found ourselves on a slave ship selecting between the Stygian, the Aquilonian and the Cimmerian. Escaping slavery, you are making your way in this brutal, backward world. There is one word I can say about the level of physical character customization possible in Age of Conan, and that is "astounding!" Over 30 different aspects of physical attributes that you can adjust await the eager fans. For example, just for the cheeks alone, you can adjust the length, the width, the height and the depth.

The same goes for the body. You can create an anorexic woman with huge (and I mean huge!) ta-tas, a man with the physique of Arnie or Pee-Wee Herman as you wish, and as usual, there's the wonderful one-click randomizer. One thing you cannot do is to give your character a pot-belly. Ahem... you are an escaped galley slave after all. But, onto the game and its unique features!

It's been a momentous week for US developer Blizzard. On Monday the studio announced it had surpassed the eight million subscription mark for its insanely popular MMO World of Warcraft in an attempt to drum up interest in the release of what is probably the biggest game expansion ever: The Burning Crusade.

And now, after thousands queued long into the cold winter night to get their mitts on the game at midnight openings across the world, millions of Warcraft players are enjoying the new continent of Outland and embarking on the long journey to level 70.

  • Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, CES Preview

MMORPG.com's Carolyn Koh had a chance to get some hands on time with this upcoming title. Take a look at her impressions ing this preview.

Funcom was represented at CES2007 this year in the Games for Windows area in the Las Vegas Convention Center. I don’t usually brave the “zoo” but did so this year for the sake of MMORPG.com readers.

Despite Windows Vista blue screens of deaths with both computers, we managed to see a little of the newbie experience on Age of Conan. Due to launch in summer 2007, Age of Conan:Hyborian Adventures is three years in the making, and currently in the Friends and Family stage of closed beta.

Tucked away in a hotel basement, somewhere deep in Central London, we probed Itzik Ben Bassat, Blizzard's vice president of business development, and The Burning Crusade game designer Jon LeCraft on the success of WoW so far, the challenges of catering to a massively diverse user base, plus the compatibility of consoles and MMORPGs. Of course, we also tried to eke out what's in store for both Blizzard and World of Warcraft. Eyes down for more.

  • Erik Mogensen Games Workshop Interview

MMORPG.com has posted this interview today. Keep reading to get a glimpse into this upcoming game.

MMORPG.com: 2006 was a big year for Games Workshop with the launch of Mark of Chaos, the Dawn of War expansions, and of course the development of Warhammer Online. Can you give us some insight into what is on the plate for 2007?

Erik Mogensen: First of all, I’d like to wish you and all the MMORPG.com fans out there a very happy New Year. 2007 is going to be very exciting for all of us!

Obviously, the big news for MMO fans is that there is now less than a year to wait until Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning’s release date. We all know how fast a year can go by! I’m afraid I’m going to have to resort to the old ‘nothing’s been announced yet’ regarding other projects. Sorry. Our other licensees THQ and Namco Bandai Games have plans in the works, but I’m going to leave it to them to reveal what’s cooking when they think the time is right. I’ll tell you this much: I’m very busy these days!

  • New Preview

Atomicgamer took some time to give us their thoughts on the upcoming Burning Crusades expansion to World of Warcraft.

And the real-life atmosphere surrounding this expansion is a little different than what we saw two years ago when WoW was only just released. Gamers are rabidly anticipating the chance to go out, explore this new world of Outland, and level up their characters to the new maximum level: 70. But TBC isn't only made for the people who "raid" every single night, getting newer and more powerful gear. They've added two new races to the game: the Alliance gets the beefy Draenai race who have crash-landed on the planet of Azeroth due to the Burning Legion's arrival, and the Blood Elves are a new Horde race that used to once be the High Elves.

  • Burning Crusade Preview #2

FiringSquad has posted their second look at the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft.

First off, the entry to the new areas of the game is through the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands. Now, instead of having the whole area infested with demons, there's a base camp for the Alliance and Horde. Of course, the other side of that gate is where all the new content lays waiting. Once you go through that gate, the new adventure begins.
