It's an interesting look into the art process of STO, and make sure you check it out!

So far on ST:O I’m pretty much just doing exterior ship designs. They have kind’ve a talented artist in every kind of realm – they have one guy that kind’ve handles characters, another one that does costumes. Ryan [Dening] here does a lot of the landscapes and kind’ve the overall view of just about everything; he’ll do the ships, kind’ve set the tone of what things are gonna look like. You’ve got Rob Brown that does a lot of the exteriors and the landscapes and the planetary stuff. Just an incredible base of talent.

  • Perpetual Entertainment Executive Producer Daron Stinnett Interviewed

WarCry posted this interview with Star Trek Online Executive Producer Friday afternoon. Head over and find out what they were able to learn.

WarCry Network: The holodeck was used in the show to sometimes escape and do whatever they wished. That opens a lot of doors for a video game. Do you have any special plans for the holodeck in Star Trek Online?

Daron Stinnett: We can use the Holodeck to go anywhere and do anything, and that's a really exciting prospect for our designers. We also see a lot of unique exploration, trade skills, and social opportunities surrounding the Holodeck, but it is just too early for us to talk specifics.

  • Are You A Trekkie?

FiringSquad has posted an interview with Glen Dahlgren, Design Director for Star Trek Online. What news is there from this game due out this fall? Keep reading to find out...

FiringSquad: First, with Star Trek entering its 40th anniversary this week how does it feel to continue this science fiction franchise in a whole new way?

Glen Dahlgren: It’s incredible. I’ve been a fan from way back, and I’ve found that every era has its own character and something distinct to like about it. What’s wonderful is that, while we’re drawing on elements from all of these series, we’re effectively creating a new series—a new era twenty years beyond the most recent movie. This era will have its own look and feel, and is being constructed in collaboration with some of the best-known Star Trek designers as well as with the wholehearted blessing of CBS. This is a wonderful opportunity for us, and hopefully an exciting opportunity for fans as well.

  • Ten Ton Hammer interviews Star Trek Online devs

Nicole "Awen" Hamlett talks Star Trek Online with Perpetual Entertainment's executive producer Daron Stinett and lead game designer Glen Dahlgren. The game is still early in development, but when it's released, no doubt it'll be the biggest thing to hit Starfleet since Lieutenant Yar slept with Data.

“Why are our guilds called fleets? Because pretty early in your career, you’re going to get a ship. It won’t be the bigger, cooler ships that require crews to fly them, but it’ll be yours. And the kind of content that a gathering of higher-level players will be interested in will involve all of these ships in an armada. At that point, you’re talking about a fleet. The larger fleets might even earn bases of their own, like a floating clubhouse or guildhall. These could be capital ships, likely not available to individuals, but also not necessarily used in the same way as other ships—mostly great places to live and interact with your other fleet members.” Glen told me.

So trekkies can rejoice. It looks like we'll finally have a game that will be done “right” (unless you're still having fun screaming "full impulse... FULL IMPULSE!" at Star Trek Bridge Commander, that is). Find out why we're more excited than a band of tipsy Vulcans by reading Ten Ton Hammer's Star Trek Online interview.
