  • What You Can Expect From Our Korean Friends in the Future
Warcry ran a few questions by RF Online's Community Manager, Kyle Rowley, to see what he thought of the current state of the game and where he thinks it is heading in the future. Check out a piece of the action below:

We always knew that the game would only really appeal to a niche market, so we never expected to hit World of WarCraft numbers. By successfully launching and operating RF Online, Codemasters Online Gaming have learnt a lot about all the different aspects of MMO games operation - this ranges from community interaction, server maintenance, developer relations and a host of other key areas. Our service can only get better as we learn from our mistakes on other products, so we have very high hopes for our future titles - especially The Lord of the Rings Online.

  • Kyle Rowley Talks with Ethec

The force is with us... Rising Force Online, that is! It's the "science-fantasy" MMORPG famous for its supersized player vs. player battles known as "Chip Wars" that occur at regular intervals throughout the game day. He may not be Yoda, but Community Liaison Officer Kyle "Laeth" Rowley answers our every question about PvP, character development, and much more in RF Online.

"Kyle "Laeth" Rowley , Community Liaison Officer, RF Online: I think it's fair to say that the MMO genre at the moment is full to the brim of fantasy themed games. Players are getting tired of playing in the same kind of setting over and over again, and RF Online tries to change all that. We think RF Online brings a fresh new theme to the MMO world, by combining all the loved aspects of the fantasy genre (elves, magic, swords etc) with all the ultra cool aspects of the Sci-Fi genre (Mechs, Cyborgs, Guns :D ). Due to this unique setting, the writers on the RF Online team can make use of their creative imagination and write history and future storylines that compel players, inviting them to find out more about the world they play in."

  • 1Up has a pretty good preview of RF Online up today.

There's a bit of something-for-everyone from a design that blends fantasy and magic with sci-fi action. The story goes that three factions are locked in battle for this planet. The Holy Alliance Cora takes the classic high fantasy route. Its lithe elfin warriors look the part, capped off with their Final Fantasy styled summoning ability. Mech fans will probably like the Bellatio Union. Their more human-like appearance and reliance on technology includes their carrying a mech with them that they can pull out and mount to fight from. And finally, there's the Accretia Empire that counters the other two organic lifeforms with cyborgs. Their heavy frames allow them to mount a tremendous weapon known as the launcher.

  • RF Online ...we need RC Online! Teeny, tiny cars being driven by virtual remote control versus other virtual people in a teeny, tiny world.
RPGVault has posted a RF Online Preview, where else...online.

" Although the title will be new in the West, it has already established itself as a success in the Far East, with a player base reportedly numbering over a million. Accordingly, it seems reasonable to expect the game and the servers will be stable, and that many possible issues related to balance, load et al will already have been addressed. The mix of fantasy and science fiction elements may help to foster both awareness and a sense of product differentiation among members of the target audience. While the visuals are attractive, with some of the female character models and their outfits drawing particular attention, it appears that the minimum system requirements will be quite reasonable. "
