More on Ten Ton Hammer
ArchLord is a port of an MMOG released in Korea about a year prior to its western debut. The most distinctive aspect of ArchLord has much to do with its name. Each player has the chance to rule the in-game world (i.e. become the ArchLord) and with it receive a range of benefits, but he or she cannot attain the title alone. A powerful and tightly coordinated guild is required to complete the ArchLord quest line, then the prospective ArchLord must face off with two other ArchLord candidates before he or she becomes ArchLord for a term of 21 days (at which point the position again becomes available for all). An ArchLord can control the weather and economy (i.e. raise or lower taxes, with the ArchLord's guild in on a cut).Players can also engage in siege PvP battles against guilds and castles.
Upon release, ArchLord had a monthly fee that was comparable to other fees of premium games (World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, etc.) at the time. Since then, the developers have rescinded the price and ArchLord is now free to play with an item mall using currency credits that can be purchased using real world cash.
