  • Archlord on Archlord.

There's a new Archlord interview up over at MPOGD with the full community team.

Codemaster’s free to play MMORPG Archlord has been trucking along for the last several years. MPOGD had the chance recently to get some questions answered by the Archlord Community Team. The team is made up by Mr. Ktat, Satine, and Ulric.

MPOGD: I’ve downloaded Archlord, and it’s beautiful. I have to say, it beats the pants off of the other free offerings. What made you decide to do without the monthly fee?

  • Codemasters talks about its decision, announced last week, to remove monthly subscription fees

RPG Vault interviewed Tim Hodges about the changes to ArchLord's subscription changes...

Jonric: What led to eliminating the monthly subscription fee, which you announced last week, and why are you making this change so soon after launching your version?

Tim Hodges: We have always considered a range of payment options for ArchLord, and have toyed with a number of them in an attempt to meet the demands of players.

  • What's In Store When You Start ArchLord?

This is what Whizzedout tries to answer. They have posted a detailed look at ArchLord.

You start of with creating your avatar, which I must say is very limited and you only have a handful of races and classes to pick from. Whats worse is the fact you cant select which gender you are, I fancied playing a Ranger but was only allowed to play as a female, now im one of those persons that likes to think every female characther you come across in the game is a real female in real life, not some 40 year old fat bloke.

  • A Peek At ArchLord

There is a new MMORPG coming out called ArchLord and Ten Ton Hammer has the information you need before the game is released! We've played the ArchLord beta and have compiled tons of information plus our impression of the game. If you ever wanted to have the ultimate power in a game to do whatever you wanted to then ArchLord might just be the game for you.

"ArchLord is your standard Asian fantasy MMORPG that throws in a few new and exciting concepts to mix things up. You've got your standard Warrior, Mage, and Archer arch-types (Shamans, Elementalists, and Berserkers are also available for play). They each have a unique role that allows them to utilize their preferred weapon to slash, pierce, or toast their enemies. You've got some pretty generic races too which are the Humans, Orcs, and Moon Elves. You have a giant sprawling world filled with all kinds of fantasy themed cities (that are very well done) and tons of mean monsters that are hording tons of wonderful loot."

  • Head of ArchLord's Design Team Interviewed had a chance to ask Dae Hwan Kim a few questions about the upcoming ArchLord. With Orcs, Moon Elves and Humans for players to choose from, what options within the races can we expect?

    Dae Hwan Kim:
Human: The first race to learn to use fire, and as a result were the first race that were able to learn to use iron. As a result they have the highest defense power of all the races.

Orc: The Orcs talents lie with the Earth. They are also blessed, or cursed, with a strong desire to win. This means that they have a higher tendency to attack than all the other races.

Moon Elf: Moon Elfs have a great ability to control water, but due to their background they also have strong abilities in all the other elements. Their main strengths lie in magic and summoning as a result of which their magic skills are set higher than other races.

  • Dime a Dozen Title or More than That?

GameDaily takes a look at ArchLord to see if it will be different from the dime a dozen MMOs that are popular in Korea.

In South Korea MMORPGs are a dime a dozen, and even the smallest of MMOs there have enough subscribers to challenge most games here in the US. Within the last couple of years some marketing people over here got a brilliant idea to talk to the marketing cats on the other side of the world. As a result, we've seen MMOs like Lineage IIrelease over here. Thus far they've been primarily met with lukewarm fanfare, usually due to cultural differences like gameplay style and poor localization. Codemasters has decided to take this idea and go a step further: they nabbed a new game in South Korea that isn't centered around team PvP from the get-go, and maintains individualistic goals for solo and small group players.

Keep reading to see what they think of ArchLord. Are you planning to play this upcoming game? Let us know how you think it is shaping up in the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer!

  • There Can Be Only One: An ArchLord Interview with Codemasters' Tim Hodges

Complete with a soundtrack performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and what may be the ultimate overachiever hook - the chance for one player to exert his or her sovereign will over all players in the game - Codemasters' current localization project, ArchLord, is possibly the freshest concept to come to the west from Asia since Final Fantasy XI. We learn more about the game that's already a smash hit in Korea from Codemasters' Tim Hodges, Community Liaison Officer for ArchLord

"Tim Hodges: The ArchLord premise, being able to rule over the in game world with a series of powers, can lead to some very nice extremes. You could well get the really dark guild that strives for world domination and when in power choose to be very aggressive with their powers. On the flip side though you could well get a guild that wants to stay in power for a long time and so chooses to be very good with their powers. Using them to help out other players as they wander the world."

  • Archlord: The MMO That Will Let One Player Rule The World.

Gamespot has taken a look at the upcoming Archlord.

We took an early look at this upcoming game, which takes place in the colorful fantasy realm of Chantra, a world held in balance by five elemental forces, and by the Renderware 3D graphics engine. The realm is home to three playable races--humans, orcs, and moon elves--which can join one of eight different subclasses that use either handheld weapons or various types of magical spells to aid them in battle. The game was previously launched in Asia last September and is being localized for European and North American release this year.

Read the full preview and then let us know what you think of this game in the forums here at Ten Ton Hammer.
