More on Ten Ton Hammer

Thrones of Chaos was a MMORPG from Loud Ant Software (it changed hands a few times). It was to be the dream world for players who love the player vs player aspect of many online games. Four races were available (humans, elves, dwarves and orcs) and forced factions was not an issue. Also, an family system and aging characters were also anticipated features. Thrones of Chaos, however, was cancelled.

    Colton Burgess Chats With Shacknews

Shacknews brings us a Q&A with Colton Burgess today. This interview gives us a look at the back story of the game, races, the lack of levels and player classes, and more.

In my opinion, wading through all the various MMOs available is beginning to feel like trying to make your way through a crowded street: barely any elbow room, lots of noise, and by the time you've made it to your destination, the headache pulsing through your skull makes you seriously consider if the journey was worth it. Each game is like a street vendor, shouting its praise and promising new features and revamped game play when compared to the other guy, but in the end, each title feels pretty much the same.

Whenever something new comes along, especially something completely unknown and unforeseen, I tend to get a little bit excited. A breath of fresh air! A title that will, perhaps, offer a little bit of newness to its genre, or at least tweak existing trends so that they look fresh when brought to the table.

Enter Thrones of Chaos, currently in development at Loud Ant software LLC.

An MMORPG touting features such as no-holds-barred PvPing and strong guild support, Thrones may end up being a sweet surprise for MMO gamers-- or it may flop when made to go toe-to-toe with venerable giants such as World of WarCraft or EverQuest II. I spoke with the game's producer, Colton Burgess, to find out more about this new contender in the crowded field of online role-playing games.

Read the full interview to learn more about this forthcoming game! Don't forget to head over to the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer to share your thoughts with us on this and all your favorite MMOs!

Chaos Theory - Colton Burgess and Loud Ant Studios Introduce Thrones of Chaos

Copycats are a dime a dozen in the MMORPG niche of the gaming industry. So are promises. But when a developer touts features like familial structures and aging, doesn't pussyfoot around the PvP issue and tells us the game is meant to be a no-holds-barred, guild-up-or-die bloodbath, and tosses in an active trade system between cities that guilds can use or subvert, we take notice. Whether all this will resonate in the unapologetically carebear-ish fantasy MMO camp, time will tell, but if Thrones of Chaos can deliver, we might have a darkhorse candidate challenging Age of Conan for the badassinest MMO title set to be released in 2007.

We talk to Colton Burgess, owner of Loud Ant Studios, about his vision for Thrones of Chaos. Check out the exclusive screenshots graciously provided by Loud Ant Studios as well.

"However, yes, each race has their own multiple finishing moves associated with combat that can be performed once you have defeated your opponent and these animations are being made with a more violent feel to them. If you are going to have a hardcore pvp themed world than the combat should also be supported with equally well-made and violent combat visuals. [Thrones of Chaos] simply is what it is... a hardcore , unrestricted pvp world focused on warring clans and guilds. Some will love it because of that and some will hate it. ;)"
