    Tips and Stratagems, Recluse’s Victory

    By Thomas Foss (aka Archon Voss) -- Senior Staff Designer & Zone Director

    Recluse’s Victory is much more of an Epic war zone than a PVP arena. With this in mind, you need to think more like a player on a larger battlefield, and less like someone street sweeping other players. This is an area where Super Groups will be able to really show their teamwork abilities and gain prestige in the presence of their peers;
    Solo players can be of special importance making sure that flanks are secure, scouting sectors and infiltration behind enemy lines. Support players can speed up recoveries to players as they emerge from the hospital reclamators, getting more boots on the ground faster.

    You can read the rest right here at the Official Site.

  • Well, they want to study us now. It's official we've all just passed from geekdom to really really interesting.

    Want to provide input about your ‘City of’ gaming experiences?

    This study is a doctoral research project undertaken by Lisa Galarneau, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Screen and Media Studies at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. The study is looking specifically at social behavior related to online games with an emphasis on City of Heroes/City of Villains. In particular, the study is exploring how players achieve mastery of the game(s) through their interactions with one another and how the game environment is affected by player contributions. At the end of the survey, you will have the option of enrolling in further phases of research. The full study involves a number of phases over a period of a year, including in-game observation, the survey, and follow-up interviews.

    You can click here. to take this survey and show them all how twisted we can really be.

  • Looks like this bad boy is just busting out. The Igneous Villain group is one of many of the horrors facing our Heroes in NCSoft's City of Heroes.

    The Trolls colloquially call them “rock dudes” and “lava dudes,” but such familiarity does not properly reflect the danger the Igneous represent. On the surface of the Hollows, scattered through the nooks and crannies of Grendel’s Gulch, are the scouts and vanguard of the Igneous. Named “pumicites” (from pumice, a porous form of solidified lava), these rock men appear to be made of a living, gray, porous stone. Their skin is abrasive, like the skin of a shark, and resembles a sponge because of gas bubbles frozen within it. These bubbles can burst, releasing noxious fumes that make it hard to breath. Pumicites are much lighter than they appear, and thus are faster and more agile than heroes might expect.

    He looks like a cross between Clayface and some kind of rockman. Scary Ugly is what he is.
