  • Warhammer Alliances has an Orc Preview for all of you hardcore Warhammer addicts out there.

With their tough green hides, vicious tusks and belligerent attitude, Orcs are perfectly suited to doing that which they do best - fighting. Orcs go out of their way to find a good fight, and they are happiest when engaging in a proper bit of mindless slaughter and carnage. In this they are frequently aided by the Goblins, who tend to be just as violent but in a sneakier, nastier fashion.

  • The French mega-conglomerate formerly known as "Vivendi Universal"...

Vivendi is no longer "universal" - they'll just settle for 6.5 million World of Warcraft subscribers. That's right, the newly renamed "Vivendi Games" sold it's last remaining shares in Universal and will now sport two new divisions: one devoted to online games, the other to mobile gaming. VG is best known as the parent company to Blizzard Entertainment, makers of the most prosperous MMORPG to-date.

Vivendi Universal Games is dropping the Universal from its name and becoming Vivendi Games (VG). This name change follows that of its corporate parent, Vivendi Universal, which has become simply Vivendi, following through with its plans to sell its last remaining stake in Universal (merged last year with NBC). The internal workings of both Vivendi and VG will remain the same, except for the formation of two new divisions devoted to mobile and online gaming.

  • Warcry has an in-depth article on how the Token system in The Chronicles of Spellborn works.

n The Chronicles of Spellborn, armour and weapons have no impact on the player’s statistics. As a result, players can have their characters look any way they wish without making sacrifices to the character’s statistics and attributes. Instead, The Chronicles of Spellborn features a unique system that allows players to imbue powerful ‘tokens’ into their weapons and certain pieces of jewellery. At higher levels, players can even create their own unique epic items that they can give a unique name and sell to other players. A similar system allows players to upgrade their favourite skills to make their Skill Deck even more powerful. In this article we will take an in depth look at the TCoS token system.

  • MMORPGs increase productivity... yea, that's the ticket!

The Orange County Register reports that corporations are beginning to embrace virtual online gaming as a means of personal and team development. Okay, we all know that 9 out of 10 meetings are a waste of time; so why not gain a level or two while your at it?

In multi-player online games such as "World of Warcraft" by Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, success can depend on strong leaders who communicate well and can coordinate a well-timed attack that uses the varied talents of their team, from dwarves and gnomes to night elves and humans.

Because many modern corporations depend on creating effective teams from geographically separate staff members, some companies study games to see how they accomplish that through a mix of Internet phone calls, instant messaging and personal communication skills.

Monthly subscription fees won't drain your wallet like green fees, yes. But if your boss calls for a heal, you better be johnny-on-the-spot.

  • Smials - Great big bunkers for little bitty hobbits.

The Great Smials, or the Great Place of the Tooks, were excavated in Tuckborough by Isengrim II, the tenth Thain of the Shire and grandfather of the famous Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took. A great family hole akin to the Brandybucks' Brandy Hall, the Great Smials are deep and many-tunnelled. They were not only designed to provide a home for many generations of Tooks, but also to defend against incursion in dark times.

  • 6 Million is apparently enough...

Subscribers set to auto-renew on April 20th-21st weren't charged, according to Ignig.com and the Blizzard support forums, and subsequently couldn't log in to the game. With telephone lines clogged, those forums are starting to look like a PvP server. Except with more gankage. And no zone / level restrictions. Nevermind.

It seems the company’s billing system has gone on the blink, causing some accounts to be put in the inactive file since their credit cards can’t be charged. What’s worse, the customer service lines are so clogged, some players are saying, they can’t get through to solve the problem.

All of this is adding to the frustration of some players, who are now threatening to cancel their accounts. A post has appeared on WoW’s forums from company officials explaining the problem and how to fix it.

  • The9 stock continues to rise, despite possible Blizzard renegotiation

For you international trading speculators out there, World of Warcraft continues to see its name in lights. In Chinese e-commerce news, Yahoo! Singapore Finance is reporting continued strong gains in The9 stock despite Blizzard's talk of seeking a new WoW operator in China.

The9 Limited's stock is up around 90% in 2006 and continues to rise, based on the strong performance of its World of Warcraft, or WoW, online role-playing game. But investors will look for the company to dispel rumors that have WoW's developer, Vivendi Universal's (V) Blizzard Entertainment, considering a renegotiation of terms as the game's next expansion pack approaches release in late 2006.
