the first authentic martial arts massively multiplayer
online role-playing game. That means you shall not be alone in The Land
— you shall journey alongside many friends, enemies, teachers and
fellow disciples. The Land itself will be constantly evolving around
you as new cities, quests, and special events are continuously added
and updated. To help you immerse yourself in the true spirit of The
Land, the design team has paid meticulous attention to the period
authenticity of all the available cities, weapons, moves, costumes and
locations used in 9Dragons.
In 9Dragons, players are allowed to join various sects of martial artists and are separated into two major factions: The White Clans (loyal to the Imperial Emperor) and The Black Clans (who bear him no allegiance). The White Clans include the Shaolin (male disciples only), Wu-Tang Clan, and The League of Beggars, and an advanced User-based Clan called The Disciples of Iron Fist. The Black Clans include the Sacred Flower (female disciples only), The Brotherhood of Thieves, and Heavenly Demon Clan, and an advanced User-based Clan called Black Dragon. Each Clan has its own requirements for admission.
You will enter the game in the streets of China during the Meng Dynasty. Characters will need to eat, drink, lodge, meditate and learn Kung Fu. After training, players will need to seek out and join one of the nine clans. The nine clans portrayed in the game are based off of actual historical clans to add a touch of historic realism to the game. Once you join a clan, you will seek out the secrets of the lost Nine Dragons.
9Dragons generates revenue through in-game ads and an item mall.
Previously published by Acclaim Games, 9Dragons was picked up by free-to-play publisher GamersFirst just before Acclaim Games shut down and support for all of it's games ceased. GamersFirst assumed the publishing duties for 9Dragons in September 2010 and GamesCampus took over on September 20th, 2011.
