More on Ten Ton Hammer
9Dragons was originally published by Korean game company Indy21 before being remastered for the Western market by Acclaim Games. The game features full 3D graphics but also attempts to be authentic to the heritage and philosophy of the various martial arts that are represented within the game. Set in China during the Ming Dynasty, it includes actual Chinese geography and historical features such as the Great Wall of China and the famous Shaolin Temple.
In 9Dragons, players are allowed to join various sects of martial artists and are separated into two major factions: The White Clans (loyal to the Imperial Emperor) and The Black Clans (who bear him no allegiance). The White Clans include the Shaolin (male disciples only), Wu-Tang Clan, and The League of Beggars, and an advanced User-based Clan called The Disciples of Iron Fist. The Black Clans include the Sacred Flower (female disciples only), The Brotherhood of Thieves, and Heavenly Demon Clan, and an advanced User-based Clan called Black Dragon. Each Clan has its own requirements for admission.
Like its brother title (2Moons), 9Dragons is completely free to play. By using a combination of in-game ad support and an item mall (a place where users can buy in-game items), Acclaim generates enough profit to keep the game running and their employees on staff.
