  • A Look at 9Dragons

WarCry has posted a look at the upcoming 9Dragons.

9Dragons will make money in two ways. The first is the item mall. Unlike most games that require a monthly fee, anyone can download and play 9Dragons free of charge. The company makes money by selling extras in their item mall. These things range from customization tweaks to a "premium service" account that gives players 30 days of XP boosts.

  • Fists and Feet of Fury

As Acclaim's 9Dragons nears release and finishes up the last few weeks of open beta, players are flocking to the test servers in droves. Cody "Micajah" Bye visits the world of 9Dragons, spends some time with the clans, and learns just how much mouse-clicking is involved in balancing your Chi. All this and more inside the 9Dragons preview!

Honestly, who could resist an organization that calls their club the Heavenly Demons? In my mind, the Demons would be riding choppers and sporting waist length beards while karate chopping their opponents. But alas, this was not the case. I appeared in the starting area with no gnarly hog…

  • An early Look

GameDaily.com posted a preview of 9Dragons today. Keep reading to see what they thought...

Players create their "peasant" (male or female) via a rather uninspired character creation system, with only eight faces, seven hairstyles (with a choice of black, brown or white) and three costumes to choose from. Apparently, characters can change their appearance in the game, as noted by several nicely outfitted avatars.

  • The Heavenly Demon Clan

In the fifth of six clan features at MMORPG.com, we get a close look at The Heavenly Demon Clan today. Included in this preview are several new screenshots! Don't miss it.

Heavenly Demon Clan was founded by a cruel, ambitious warrior who, in defiance of The Imperial Emperor and his court, self-proclaimed himself The Emperor Heavenly Demon and waged holy war against all governing factions. It is whispered by many that Emperor Heavenly Demon truly was possessed by demons as a child, and certainly any who had witnessed his ferocity in battle, would attest that this was true. His proclamation, “A land governed by the depraved must be conquered through depraved justice, only through fire may it be cleansed!” sums up the clan’s collective philosophy.

  • Crafting and the Shaolin Clan

MMORPG.com has two preivews up today on the forthcoming 9 Dragons. The first preview discusses crafting in this unique world.

    Ken Johnson tells us...

In this article you will learn more about how the crafting system works in 9dragons, the new martial arts MMO from Acclaim and Persistent Worlds. 9Dragons is a mixture of Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and for you more mature gamers a touch of Jackie Chan’s Drunken Master.

The second preview at MMORPG.com tells us about the Shaolin Clan in 9 Dragons. Ken Johnston and Steven-Elliot Altman tell us...

Hello and welcome to this, the first of six articles specially written for MMORPG on the starter clans in 9Dragons. The six clans we are going to cover are Shaolin, Wu-Tang Clan, the League of Beggars, Heavenly Demon, Sacred Flower and the Brotherhood of Thieves. All six of these clans are based upon Chinese history and mythology and we’ve researched them to give you as authentic an experience as possible. In ancient China, the clans were labelled as either white or black, as delineated by their allegiance to The Imperial Emperor. The white clans were, on the whole, loyal and noble, while the black clans were rogues with intent that violated Imperial decree. Of course, there are many famous legends in which disciples of these clans have acted out of order with their clan’s traditions!

When you're done checking these previews out, don't forget to return to Ten Ton Hammer and let us know what you think in our forums!

  • Developer Journal: The Weapons of 9 Dragons

In the fifth of a series of developer journals Ken Johnston, CEO Real Time Worlds, talks about the weapons that will be found in 9 Dragons. 9 Dragons is a MMO that is set in ancient China around the Ming Dynasty and s the first authentic martial arts massively multiplayer online game.

That world was ancient China during the Ming dynasty. They were dangerous times; the land was filled with bandits, wild animals and strange monsters. Still, there were those brave souls who mastered different forms of Kung Fu and heard the call of Martial Chivalry to combat these dark forces.

In a previous article I told you about the monsters and also some of the specific monster clans that are in the game. Now I want to talk to you about some of the weapons you can use to defeat these monsters.
