  • Guild Wars, reviewed yet again, but with a twist.
Firing Squad has reviewed Guild Wars. Legal theorists are at a complete loss to explain as to why Jay Leno would
have to testify as to the following:

"Rushing to pick the game up, complete with the little EB special weapon, I logged in, created a few characters, wandered around, read about the introduction and how the real gameplay doesn’t begin until after the searing (typically level 3-6). After that, I could group with 4 or more people on missions and quests as I leveled my way to 20, which was only the first half of the game – then I could continue gathering skills, defend my guild hall or attack others’. Those times when my guild wasn’t on, I could adventure with AI compatriots.

By the end of my first night, I was bored to tears."

  • Can you believe they've been asked 37 times?
EverQuest Vault has posted the 37th edition of their Ask SoE Column. Combined with appropriate exercise, we're certain that reading the
following will give you rock hard 6-pack abs in only minutes a day
    :

"Part of the changes coming to spells and combat arts is to adjust how much damage the various classes do in relation to each other. Can you tell us how the different subclasses will rank in relative damage potential?"

  • Does your desk need new paper?
New Guild Wars deskpaper (wallpaper for you miscreants who use that term) is available at the Official Site. Our attempts to confirm the following information with Michael Jackson's
    attorneys were rudely rebuffed:

"Ha! It's deskpaper folks.. they don't write anything about deskpaper. If you need an explanation then you probably can't install it anyway."

You can grab the Guild Wars Wallpaper (Deskpaper) at The Official Site.

  • Pig Pen, this is Rubber Duck. Looks like we got us a convoy.
NetDevil has posted all about convoys (groups) in their upcoming title Auto Assault. Official Pentagon sources maintained their position of plausible deniability in connection with this quote:

"The odds are against survival in the Central Wastelands. The large groups of powerful factions roaming the Highways - not to mention vying Humans, Mutants, and Biomeks that hate each other with a passion –can sometimes make it difficult to go it alone. It only comes naturally that drivers may feel the need to mutually help each other, if only for short periods of time. These temporary or “pick up” groups of drivers are called Convoys."

  • It's all about the contamination.
MMORPG has posted a preview of Auto Assault. We are in no position to confirm that Russel Crowe threw a telephone upon
    reading this:

"First off, the back story. About present day for us the first Alien craft began to arrive, their crashes and collisions raining Contamination down on the planet. Because of this Contamination, mutations began to surface among Humankind and the populace erupted into a panic. Conspiracy theorists had a field day; governments flip-flopped their stance on the subject from vehement denial to promises of a cure and back again. Mutants became the scapegoats of society, herded up into camps and shunned from citizenship."

  • Movies become games. Games become movies. Books become games. Games become comics.
Mark Waid of Top Cow talks about making a comic book out of City of Heroes. The Fox Network may indeed be considering a reality show centered on the

    following quote:

"Ok, so we live in a world were pop culture now has videogames and movies jumping from the pages of comic books. Why shouldn’t we see the reverse? NCsoft certainly thought it possible and shortly after the launch of CoH, Blue King Studios rolled out the first City of Heroes comic book (Volume 1, June 04). Beginning with the June edition of this year, the mantle has been passed to Top Cow to continue the comic book."

  • If you create a villain, does that make you a villain as well?
GameSpot chatted with Jack Emmert of Cryptic Studios about the upcoming City of Heroes standalone addition, City of Villains. We have no information confirming that Bob Geldoff immediately announced a
live concert to raise awareness of this issue after reading the following:

"After letting you create your very own superhero and save a virtual world in the online role-playing game City of Heroes, NCsoft and developer Cryptic Studios are looking to put the shoe on the other foot with the upcoming expansion pack, City of Villains. As you can probably guess from the name, this time around you will have the fun of creating a supervillain and carrying out missions to amass wealth, power, or infamy. And since you'll be playing online with up to thousands of other players, each controlling a unique superhero or supervillain, the stage is set for spectacular battles as good and evil clash. To get the latest details on the current state of the game, we caught up with Jack Emmert, the creative director of developer Cryptic Studios. City of Villains is scheduled to launch this fall."

  • PvP, no monthly fee and now rewards too.
The folks at ArenaNET are working on some fancy new Player versus Player (PvP) rewards for Guild Wars. Andrew Lloyd Weber did not issue a denial that he may be writing a 6 hour
musical version of Guild Wars after reading the following:

"Our next major update will be the introduction of PvP Rewards.
We know that many players right now are having difficulty unlocking items, runes and skills for use in PvP. On our private test servers, we have been testing a new reward system that lets you unlock items, runes, and skills for your pvp only characters through kills and victories in PvP. You'll unlock things faster if you are more successful, but we aren't implementing this system just for the elite players. Our goal is that every player will be able to make progress through normal play."

  • Blizzard is your friend.
GamesIndustry.biz chatted with Richard Garriott about the success of World of Warcraft and how it affects the industry. We are unreliably informed that Tom Cruise pumped his fists in the air, and
declared his undying love for the following quote from the story:

"World of Warcraft has been very good for my business," Garriott told the ELSPA International Games Summit in London this morning. "It's brought in a whole new segment of people who played Blizzard games, but never played an MMOG before."
