  • Clearing up the hardpoints

Auto Assault might be the "fastest, most destructive MMORPG ever", but the game never leaves you short on interesting considerations. Foremost of which: the tires, armor, weapons, and other equipment you should choose for your next jaunt through the post-apocalyptic plains. Our newest guide discusses your vehicle's functional slots, or "hardpoints", and how each piece of equipment's detailed stats affect what you'll bring to the fight.

"The car makes the man, and nowhere is this more true than in Auto Assault. Short of purchasing a new chassis, you can make a number of changes to your vehicle: power plant, tires, armor, 4 weapons slots, a hazard kit, and even a dancing hula girl ornament, perhaps?"

Read the Vehicle Hardpoints Guide at Auto Assault - TenTonHammer and know your thermobaric cannon from your isotropic power plant!

  • MMORPGs increase productivity... yea, that's the ticket!

The Orange County Register reports that corporations are beginning to embrace virtual online gaming as a means of personal and team development. Okay, we all know that 9 out of 10 meetings are a waste of time; so why not gain a level or two while your at it?

In multi-player online games such as "World of Warcraft" by Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, success can depend on strong leaders who communicate well and can coordinate a well-timed attack that uses the varied talents of their team, from dwarves and gnomes to night elves and humans.

Because many modern corporations depend on creating effective teams from geographically separate staff members, some companies study games to see how they accomplish that through a mix of Internet phone calls, instant messaging and personal communication skills.

Monthly subscription fees won't drain your wallet like green fees, yes. But if your boss calls for a heal, you better be johnny-on-the-spot.

  • AA as a trading card game... papercuts, anyone?

If the Auto Assault trading card game matches the intensity of the MMORPG, you'd best wear protective gloves. Fortunately, we're talking an online TCG here. GameTunnel reviews AA in online TCG form, free to try for Auto Assault subscribers (your serial number will net you a free starter deck).

In Auto Assault TCG you have only two objectives and no strategic map. That isn’t to say the Auto Assault game lacks strategy, it just isn’t quite as deep as Star Chamber. If you are a hardcore strategy fan, check out Star Chamber at If you are a Magic the Gathering player or simply curious to see what a TCG is all about, I suggest Auto Assault at

Bottom line, it appears that the Auto Assault Trading Card Game works best as an intro to TCG gaming. But, dude, why not login to Auto Assault TKM (The Kickass MMORPG) as long as you're going to be on the computer?

Anyway, check out Game Tunnel's review of Auto Assault TCG to sate your trading card curiosity!

  • Smials - Great big bunkers for little bitty hobbits.

The Great Smials, or the Great Place of the Tooks, were excavated in Tuckborough by Isengrim II, the tenth Thain of the Shire and grandfather of the famous Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took. A great family hole akin to the Brandybucks' Brandy Hall, the Great Smials are deep and many-tunnelled. They were not only designed to provide a home for many generations of Tooks, but also to defend against incursion in dark times.

  • Enter the Underworld

Temple of the Ages is a unique area in Guild Wars. It has the usual assortment of quests and collectors, but it also acts as a gateway to the realms of the gods. When your region has the favor of the gods, you can pay a price to visit Grenth's Underworld or Balthazar's Fissure of Woe.

To indicate favor, the statue of Balthazar will burn, and the statue of Grenth is a waterfall of frost. Kneel (/kneel) before either statue while your region has favor, and a Voice will appear. Balthazar's Voice can admit you and your party to the Fissure of Woe for the cost of 1,000 gold, regardless of party size.

We introduce you to the Temple and explain how to access these high-end PvE zones. Read our Guild Wars - TenTonHammer Guide to Temple of the Ages.

  • Ralsu can make guides, but don't let him sing!

Anybody can make a bard. You want your Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach (DDO) bard to be the best, most efficient bard on the server. To get there, you'll need to have the most useful spells. Read Ralsu's notes for each of the Level 1 bard spells to learn how to pick the right ones with your limited choices:

    Charm Person
    Cool down (seconds): 6
    Casting Time: Medium
    School: Enchantment
    Range: Long
    Components: somatic, verbal
Duration: Special (save every 3d6 + 12 seconds)
    Target: foe
    Save: Will to avoid

Official Description “Charms an enemy humanoid, which will fight as a trusted friend and ally. Charmed humanoids get an additional saving throw every 3d6+12 seconds.”

Notes: This spell causes your opponent to fight for you in combat. It has the very annoying drawback of preventing completion of events that require you to kill your charmed foe, such as doors that won’t open until all your opponents are killed, etc. Your foe receives a save when you first cast charm, and every 15 - 30 seconds afterward until he succeeds. Until then, your enemy will fight for you. This spell will only affect humanoids. If you are looking to add damage to the party, this spell can get it done. First you have to find a humanoid and charm it before your party goes nuts and kills it. If the charm breaks at an inconvenient moment, you could be in big trouble.

  • Our new Tauren starting guide covers Mulgore, and that's no bull...

Next in our series of World of Warcraft beginner's guides, we look at Mulgore; a lush prairieland that the game's youngest Tauren call home. Included is background on the region, a walkthrough of the 25+ quests through level 10, a detailed map, and the massive amount of hints and tips you'd expect from a TenTonHammer guide! Here's a look:

A bit south of the cave you'll find the Bael'Dun dig site for "Dwarven Diggers" - gather the tools, but I'd recommend holding on to them rather than attempting to use the dwarves' forge to break the tools (the forge there will require you to fight nasties every few moments). Head directly east, and use the guerilla tactics you took advantage of at Winterhoof Well to venture into the Ravaged Caravan and examine a crate there. Make sure you clear the aggro, because you'll have to stay put for a good 45 seconds or so to advance the quest.

Check out the new Mulgore starting region guide at WoW - TenTonHammer !

  • You've been waiting for it. You've had anticipation like nobody's business. So much anticipation that you can't leave your home now for fear of missing any new news. It happens, it's ok. Just open the door, get in your car and go.

April 26, 2006 (BELLEVUE, WA) – ArenaNet®, developer of the award-winning online roleplaying game Guild Wars®, and NCsoft® Corporation, the world’s leading developer and publisher of online computer games, announce today that one of the year’s most-anticipated PC titles, Guild Wars Factions™, has officially shipped. For fans of the game that revolutionized online roleplaying, the wait is nearly over as Guild Wars Factions goes out today to retail stores worldwide.

Guild Wars Factions is the stand-alone follow-up to Guild Wars, the game that set new standards in online gaming with fresh design, innovative technology and no-subscription-fee pricing. With an expected retail price of $49.99, Guild Wars Factions will be available worldwide and servers supporting the new release will “go live” at 12:01 AM PDT /7:01 GMT on April 28, 2006.

Those who pre-ordered the game will be able to participate in the exclusive Guild Wars Factions Head Start Event beginning at 12:01 AM PDT/7:01 AM GMT on April 27, 2006. These lucky gamers will have access to the game for a total of 48 hours, including a full 24 hours before the game’s global release. During the first 24 hours of the Head Start Event, ArenaNet has planned an exclusive in-game event titled "Day of the Tengu," in which players will join one-day-only "Day of the Tengu" quests, and earn exclusive in-game rewards.

“New features in Guild Wars Factions such as guild scrimmages, alliance battles, ranked character titles, and some surprises still to come all resulted from our drive to create a truly unique gaming experience for existing and new fans of the Guild Wars universe,” says Mike O’Brien, co-founder of ArenaNet. “With a full year of development and a passionate design team, we think what we’ve created delivers on that and much, much more. Either played as a stand-alone game, or linked with your original Guild Wars account, Guild Wars Factions is a game we are thoroughly proud of—and still carries no subscription fee.”

Guild Wars Factions takes place on the Asian-inspired continent of Cantha, where players create a character from eight distinct professions—including the newly created Assassin and Ritualist—and join an epic quest that pits two warring factions, the Luxons and the Kurzicks, against an ancient evil, and against each other. As players become embroiled in this brutal war of conquest, new missions will provide both roleplaying fans and competitive PvP players the opportunity to help determine the fate of Cantha.

Guild Wars Factions is rated T for Teen. For more information, please visit

Have tons of fun getting into this game.
