  • Are you lost and confused, all alone on St Valentine's Day? Perhaps the idea of vehicular carnage appeals to you as a way to improve your spirits? Yes? Yeah, it works for me, too!

Xerin and his crew at Ten Ton Hammer Auto Assault have compiled just the guide for you, giving up the scoop on the how-to for entry into the Auto Assault Beta, currently ongoing:

The first step to playing the beta is actually getting into the beta.
This isn't as hard of a process as you think. There are two ways to
get into the beta. One is a "lottery" type situation where you sign up
on PlayNC and hope your name is drawn out of a hat. The other is to
pre-order the game, which puts you in line for priority beta access.

  • Will You be Feelin' the Love in DDO?

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, and in lieu of chocolates in a heart-shaped box, Ralsu gives us a look at love and romance in online gaming. How will those of us lookin' for love fare in Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO)? Put down that trashy romance novel and prepare yourself by reading our editorial.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and despite the stereotype that all gamers are overweight males who live in their parents’ basements, many Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) fans will need to think of the perfect gift* to give that special someone. The “holiday” has mutated in recent years with the advent of advanced technology: FTD will let you order flowers online, or you could send an e-card to your love. Cute. But technology—and massively-multiplayer online games (MMOGs)—also changes how we fall in love in the first place.

  • The DDO beta quest journals continues...

Aloyce, Ralsu, and Shayalyn battle undead in an attempt to rescue a missing woman from the clutches of a necromancer in Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach. Follow the party on a new adventure filled with monsters, magic, and intrigue:

I heard the same moaning a man makes as the life force flees his body and two shadowy figures shambled from behind nearby pillars. As the red light fell across their forms, I could see the exposed bones showing from some parts of their bodies and the decaying flesh all over.

Read Ralsu's Quest Journal at DDO - TenTonHammer and relive the adventure from his point of view!

  • Candy... and Lies?

At Guild Wars @ TenTonHammer, this week's editorial is a cynical look at Valentine's Day, romance, and Guild Wars. Everyone has a view on Valentine's Day, and this one is not glittering with the shiny light of idealism. Read about it here!

I’m not going to take a guess at gender ratios here, but its fair to say that most of those alluring babes chatting it up in Lion’s Arch aren’t female in the flesh. It’s hard to get affectionate with a sexy elementalist babe if you know that her inner voice is a tenor.

  • Hearts and flowers and chocolates in Middle-Earth?

Okay, so Tolkien lore isn't exactly rife with romance, but Aragorn loved Arwen and Samwise loved Rosie and hey, perhaps love will be in the air some day in Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (LOTRO). Shayalyn takes a look at love in online games, and the heightened potential for relationships in LOTRO. She also shares a bit of her personal history when it comes to romance and online games. (Oh, the scandal!)

I thought of finding some sentimental stories about love in online gaming for this article, but that’s probably being done by at least a few other gaming site writers. Instead, I guess I’ll dig deep and dredge up a bit of personal information to kick things off. You see, I once fell for someone online, so when I talk of online relationships, I speak from personal experience.

Feelin' the love? Check out the Valentine's Day editorial on LotRO @ TenTonHammer!

  • In Newsweekly reports that Blizzard has issued a public apology to Sara Andrews. (Thank you EuroGamer)

Paul Sams, Blizzard Entertainment's chief operating officer, contacted In Newsweekly and said, "What we've done is decided to add a guild recruitment channel to the game... providing players with a designated area where they can advertise their guilds in an appropriate fashion."

This would mean that players who wish to find others to associate with will have a channel designated to finding those individuals and will not interfere with the general chat channel.

Now, I want a public apology for getting frozen out of the game so much that I logged off in a snit.

  • Explosions are in the air... okay, love too.

At our Auto Assault @ TenTonHammer community site, Xerin offers a complete guide for giving the gift of pre-order Auto Assault to your sweetheart. With NCSoft's "Valentine's Day Massacre" event right around the corner, and all pre-order purchasers getting priority beta access, it's the perfect gift, right? Maybe, if she liked that cordless drill, billiards table, and cigar humidor you got her for Christmas.

First step: get a box of chocolates. It has to be shaped like a heart because "heart" means "love." You want to convey love here, or at least try to pretend you are conveying it. Now eat all of the chocolate or put the chocolate up in plastic bags or something. I don’t really know I ate my chocolate right then. Then go pick up a pre-order of Auto Assault. Be sure to make sure to understand the stores rules on pre-orders. Some will not refund (or at least give store credit) on pre-orders. Then take the code and put it in the heart shaped box. Next put on a tuxedo. This is very important. You want to look saucy for when you approach the person you’re in love with.

You can find Xerin's hilarious Valentine's Day spoof at the Auto Assault @ TenTonHammer community site.
