  • interviewed Blizzard on the Euro login problems Many World of Warcraft players have recently been complaining that they have to wait for long periods of time to get in the game once they've entered their username and password - and that sometimes it's not possible to log in at all. Are these problems still ongoing?

John Lagrave: A lot of the login issues are persisting. They're much less than what they were, but we have been having some incredible concurrency with the game itself, and as such that's put quite a bit of burden on the existing hardware that we have.

Can you explain what you mean by concurrency?

John Lagrave: It's just that suddenly a lot of people showed up - sort of like when you're at a party and suddenly 15 people walk through the door and they all want a drink. It's like, "Well, I'll get that to you, but it's going to take a bit of time," and that's what we've found.

We've been very fortunate in that a large number of people came into the game just recently; we've had good growth throughout the past year, but we had exceptionally high numbers come in over the holidays. Which was wonderful, and we're glad they're all there, but it put some additional stress onto the system and we've had to respond to that.

I understand that there are over five million subscribers. I understand that they expanded so quickly that everyone went into shock. What I don't understand is how they get the cream in the center of the Twinkie. It just boggles my mind.

  • A Festivus for the Rest of Us

While in the midst of updating our Class Guides and providing new content such as Instance Guides and Profession Guides, the people here at TenTonHammer are proud to present yet another Guide for our wonderful audience.

How can Blizzard mash the 4th of July, Easter, Christmas, and the Chinese New Year all into one wacky holiday? The "Lunar Festival" in World of Warcraft, that's how! And we've got everything you need to know to make the most of the event!

Date: January 27th to February 14th
Place: All Major Faction Cities, & Moonglade
    Events: Fireworks, Elders, & “Omen”

Now it’s time to go into some detail about these three main attractions…

If anything, the Lunar Festival should be considered the “4th of July” of WoW. Festival Vendors (keenly placed at major cities) are willing to sell a plethora of Fireworks to those who have the silver to spare. From single rockets, to clusters of colored bombs, there seems to be a limitless supply of incendiary devices coming from the relatively peaceful members of the Cenarion Circle, this obviously has to do with some kind of feud with the goblins and gnomes.

  • Buicks and Bunker Busters

That's right! The Auto Assault glossary has been updated with the information that is currently available in the beta. From airlifts to xenos, we have all of the random tidbits of AA information in one convenient location.

Most factions use infantry as a basic soldier, but they are very easy for a vehicle to take out. A lot of them will die in one hit of a melee weapon. That doesn't mean they can't hurt you though. They are a scary force in numbers.

Check out the newly updated Auto Assault glossary at AA - TenTonHammer.

  • Only the Best…

…for our readers, and GuildWars @ TenTonHammer continues the tradition. Samyel knows that the database contains some obsolete information. Samyel also knows that there’s a whole slew of new skills coming in the next few months with the release of the Factions Expansion. Consequently, we’re cleaning house. Every skill in the database is going to be checked and updated to reflect the current game.

Today, we dusted and polished the Elementalist skills that have no attribute, or use Energy Storage. We’ll be working on updates for the next week or so, and intend to get things sparkly-clean well before the release of Factions, the new expansion for Guild Wars (in a store near you this spring!).

  • We always thought Xerin... er, Devrek belonged in the looney bin!

In the continuing Auto Assault-themed comedy series, Devrek took a Freelancer’s car and sold it to some of those bandits that roam outside of towns last week. While he was bragging about all of the money he made during his standup act, Hestia Corporation broke in and whisked him away. So this week in the fourth edition of the Roadstop Comedy Club we find out exactly what happened after he was taken in! Apparently Devrek has gotten access to a local terminal and has sent all of his buddies an update on his condition.

Apparently selling off Hestia Corporation’s property the first time lands you with exile. A second time and it lands you locked up in a cell with guards and crazy stares. I’m being treated well, however they say I may get released from my exile due to permanent irreversible mental insanity. I’m not quite sure where they get that idea. I guess trying to make a pirate hat out of the only piece of bread you get that day makes you crazy. If trying to be fashionable is crazy, well then, uh… call me fashionably crazy! Yeah!

  • DDO elves, fresh off the.... shelves?

Ralsu conjures up another guide to the races of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, this time painting a word portrait of the beautiful and mysterious elf.

An elf often seeks adventure because of stagnation in her life. A race that can live over 700 years, elves have ample time to explore the curiosities in life. Elves are neither rash nor greedy. They gain perspective from their years of experience. When elven curiosity points to a goal, elves demonstrate remarkable concentration and persistence.
